I had been put into this weirdly large booth with Startale Ace and some other guy who's name I can't remember (he wasn't pretty and had a hooded top). The booth itself held 4 PCs, with 2 opposite the other 2 and had plastic tent doors, much like that place I'd eaten Korean BBQ with Carefoot and his friend that one time. So we sit down and start playing. It's a TvT and the normal things happen; marines, hellions and tanks get made with some fighting between the 2 players.
It's all going as normal until I suddenly have 4 hellions queued and am wondering what Ace is actually doing sitting next to me. I try to cancel them but they keep getting added back to the queue. I start checking my keyboard while another battle happens which I didn't control and next thing I know, the opponent has gg'd. He stands up smiling at me while I'm sitting there with a puzzled look on my face and it hits me. We were doing a team melee 2v1 and Ace was controlling my stuff. He couldn't macro well as Terran, but his army control won us the game; albeit I spent my time fixing his blasted unit queuing.
There's some commotion as we work out which seats to move to for the next 2v1. It's me and the other Korean next so I'm busy having my equipment unplugged my Junkka.
Then I woke up. and thought "this would be hilarious/weird as a real tournament".
The basic concept I came up with was - x people from each race split into a T/Z/P per "round". Everyone plays 2 2v1s and 1 1v2. Overall you play as your own race twice and once as your partner's. Points are awarded by winning games with more points if you win a 1v2. The tournament runs until everyone has played everyone else with the winner being decided on points.
Not entirely sure what the dream was trying to tell me (other than me being better at Terran than Ace) or whether this would actually be a fun format, but it's something to think about I suppose.
