Here are some examples at my university: 1. Ipod Music person - plays music so sound in ear phones that the whole row of cubicles can hear 2. Cell phone person - no need for explanation here 3. Guy who plays video games/facebook during peak times in computer lab | ||

Yea, she has a valid complaint, but I wouldnt make the argument that it wasnt an offensively racist rant. I mean, shes supposed to be talking about asians in the library, but she goes off about how family visits make asians horrible people. Oh, and apparently living in a foreign country that doesnt speak your language makes you unable to fend for yourself. Oh, and apparently all asians are immigrants. i also used to be apologetic about my race to the point of willfully ignoring and accommodating towards racially offensive comments and viewpoints. please dont be that guy | ||

i just think it is ridiuclous that people get so riled up over a rather uninformed (and somewhat airheaded) but relatively harmless girl ranting about (actually) a reasonable complaint (that of asians talking on the phone in library and having their family always coming to babysit them, both of which have some truth in them) ok, the comment about tsunami isn't harmless, but i didn't hear it when i watched it quickly mostly, i saw potential for comedic gold -- and indeed, comedy was delivered | ||

About the tsunami stuff -- we're all selfish -- but who wants to admit that they value study time more than a stranger's emotional well-being? Same thing with family visits, etc. etc. She's guilty of excessive candor and a good bit of stereotyping, but who isn't (of the latter, at least)? There's a good bit of this in the thread already (pretty female can't be majoring in X, she's stupid hurrrr, and so on). | ||
