Here is my first attempt at a serious comic. Most of it is a test to see if the tools I had(and my brain) could make something decent. I took screenshots using the editor as well as in-game. What I didn’t notice for a bit was the SC2 editor may be using different graphics than what your game runs in. Not to mention the test version of the map may also run at a third setting.
Most of the filters I used are the same. The wraith panel, however, is not. I noticed that different graphic settings would produce different results with the filters. For instance, shots close to the ground I could have higher terrain detail. Wider shots would require lower terrain detail. Being lazy, I didn’t really fix any of that.
I didn’t read a variety of comics as a kid, so I had to learn paneling and speech bubbling. In fact, speech bubbling is a bitch. Every time I took a screenshot and it looked nice, I wanted to show the whole thing rather than cut it into short segments that are required for quick time lapses and details. I also couldn’t decide on text sound effects, or how to cleanly and clearly represent motion. Only one panel has the ratatat of the marine shooting.
One other important aspect I noticed, was that I’ve been staring at the pages so long that I may view it differently than someone reading for the first time. In fact, when I read it all together, I just blew through it. That is going to need some work as well.
All in all, this took maybe 2-4 hours? Overall it took a week. The terrain doesn’t have much going on which saved a lot. It probably would have also taken a bit more time if I had edited the graphic settings and filters kept the overall comic consistent as possible. Figuring out the paneling and progression probably took the most time. The last page kind of sucks. Doesn’t flow well, and I just wanted it to end. It also ends abruptly because I couldn’t figure out how to fit just one more panel or alternatively, fill up another page.
Now that I found some sources of error and where I can improve, I won't half ass it so much. Although it will probably take way more time..

Edit: Oh yea, suggestions/tips/criticisms? I know a lot of people here are really into comics and that would help a lot. Thanks. Or hell, even story lines.

Wait, I'm confused. It looks like this from screenshots?
Or did you take screenshots and edited it and made it comicy?
Looks good though, I must say, even if the story is lacking.

Good stuff. Honestly the story is better than most of Blizzard's official comics. Like the style, good idea with the screenshots.

I took screenshots from both the editor and in game, and then put it into photoshop. Most if it was subtle changes since I used mostly the same filters(aside from the wraith pic). Graphic level differences actually changed it the most.
Any opinions on text sound effects? Either the ones I used or in general(so I can decide on the use in the future).

I like the bitter, deserted vibe of the story. And the colours fit. Nice job, man.

Pretty neat. There are some rough edges here and there, but it doesn't really detract from the comic overall so don't worry about it. The story seemed a little bland though. Having some sentences cut off and then continued in the next "page" was also a bit distracting. Although, if this was in a book layout, I could understand why. Maybe you could try double page spreads if you do a similar technique?

Really, really cool, but the story is lacking. Smaller text and more story.

Cool comic, although some of the paneling could have been done differently to better effect. Also a few panels felt unnecessary.

Actually, when you put more story in just eight panels it wouldn't be as good. Fine as it is.
