Normally I would suck it up because honestly, many of these things individually seem petty or trivial, and whining about them in a blog melodramatic and futile.
Seeing as i use StarCraft mostly as a vehicle of escape for most of this, I figure its fitting to use Team Liquid as a way to blow off some steam.
So I guess I can begin by describing everything thats on my mind. I hope this doesn't become a giant stream of consciousness, and will endeavor to prevent that by keeping things a bit episodic.
So I will begin with the first thing that weighs deeply on my mind, as you may have guessed, its a girl. I can't even begin to aspire to the likes of MOARpylons impressively jubilant "about a girl" blog, especially since I believe this small episode has an absolutely dismal ending in comparison.
I first met this girl last summer, it was at a beach party that was thrown by a mutual friend. Ironically, I met this friend through boy scouts, (I am currently an Eagle Scout :D) so I guess you could say i met this girl through boy scouts.
Now, this girl was fantastic, she was stunningly beautiful and witty too. I enjoyed every second I spent with her, and at the time her appearance was a breath of fresh air. I got her number there and asked her out at the first opportunity.
Honestly I was a bit rusty with the whole dating thing, but I managed to pull it off alright. We started dating regularly, and to be honest I loved it. Easily my favorite summer of all time.
During the school year things got pretty bad between us... It had nothing to do with us disliking each others company, quite the opposite, I wanted more. However, she didn't attend the same school as myself, and the responsibilities of school and her school band sadly got in the way of us seeing each other. The fact that we lived an hour away from each other didn't help either. It came to the point where she would disappear for three weeks at a time. I could still talk to her online, but that was a poor replacement for the real thing especially since she couldnt get skype because of computer issues.
It got much better once she quit band, however there became a breaking point when she got a job about a month ago. I was basically single because she worked pretty much every shift and her shifts started right after school got out and ended at 9. I tried hard to work around it, but in the end once ever 3-5 weeks until summer just didn't appeal to me.
So I broke up with her. I still think it was a good and healthy decision, especially considering I dont have much time left in San Diego.
Even so, it is incredibly frustrating to know that something as simple as logistics can destroy a relationship.
The recent passing of Valentines day also highlighted another attribute of the breakup, the crippling loneliness. Which I suppose will be covered in Part 2.
