Anti colossus micro?

We have seen anti baneling micro softening up the hardcounter to marines.

I just wonder after again after watching some of the GSTL games: Why don't players counter colossi more by micro? I had great success in 4v4s with it, and I don't even execute it that well... Basically colossi have splash rectangular to the direction they fire in. So typicalls when two armies fight two frontlines will form. You can reduce colossus splash a LOT by selecting 1-2 units at a time and moving them a step to the front or a step to the back. Colossi hit 2-3 units at a time if you do well.

Of course forcefield makes this difficult, but there are lots of possibilities where this kind of micro should really help, but i never saw it used really...

What do you think?

This would be more viable with 1-2 colossi, but in most large engagements, that kind of micro would be negligible, because the colossi numbers would be a little too much.

But generally speaking, in an engagement with few colossi, there's a lot of micro anyway.

Well, forcefields are mostly used to trap units between the forcefield and your units. There's no micro room. In situations where you CAN micro, especially with zerg, all your doing is taking an already scarce number of units out of fighting range. In PvP people do micro, but it's mostly microing the colossus.

Forcefields and ranged units make it not worth doing.

Indeed. Once you engage their army, if you start "microing" your units around you're actually hurting yourself more than helping yourself.

The only micro you really do in full engagement situations is retreating or committing and making a good arc.

The "micro" that OP is talking about makes you lose DPS and ur units will stumble around, not to mention forcefields as sin just said above. It's better to not touch your units sometimes, unless you're kiting, but that is different from the "micro" you are trying to describe in OP.

What you can do in a pvp situation, where both sides have collossi, is to send half your zealots in at a time. This way only half of your zealots will be taking damage at any moment. Your opponent will use up his meat shield before you do.

Generally when you post this kind of theory, you want to have a few videos to back your case up.

I think you answered your own question. FF goes up, units behind FF keep shooting, the units in front get the fuck out of dodge. You are microing your vikings ofc, and once your units in front get out of dodge two things happen:

a) toss/terran fucks off thinking he can't win
b) you have a back and forth battle, and toss tries to FF you again, repeat and rinse.

Hmm, maybe I just learned something. So, you should leave the units in front of FF alone?

I see the logic; move, no dps, majority of units die anyway so why not max their potential dps..

While I have you here Avilo :D around what army supply is the money shot time/supply for Terran to drop ghost academy? It seems to be around 90-110 in a pure bio army, roughly ofc.

p.s. totally big fan, been watching you since BETA. TRIPLE STRIKE NUKE BABY! WOO
