There are a few problems with both of our games. I show some inflexibility as I continually pit marauders against charged zealots. On Ziggy’s end, he still needs to work on keeping his minerals low in the late game. I also make a big blunder when I continually fail to guard my destroyed-rock backdoor on Jungle Basin, leaving him free to wreak havoc on my SCVs once or twice.
Here is the replay with commentary (in 2 parts):
Lessons learned:
1. Think actively when producing units. I think the reason I kept producing marauders against his chargelots was that I just wasn’t thinking. I’d realize the need to keep producing units, so in order to do that as fast as possible, I would just do the same thing I had been doing (spamming the D button) instead of thinking about what I needed to do and then producing units accordingly. So, I’m trying to be a little too fast for my own good.
2. Guard base entrances! It was pretty dumb of me not to either wall off or at least keep a few units at the broken-rock entrance to my base. Ziggy destroyed the rocks with the sole intention of rushing in and killing off SCVs, but even knowing that, I put no safeguards in place to keep him from doing so freely.
3. Don’t wall off the ramp to your own natural. Yeeaaahhhhh.
