To be honest I wouldn't really wear a baseball cap in either style. I used to like them I guess but I was a kid and it was the 90s. Something about it seems passé.

I will say though, that the straight brim + sticker thing looks great with the various clothing styles that go with it. It's just a fashion choice, and a bit of a fad, I wouldn't call it alarming for any reason at all. Out here in LA, the straight brim thing has been around for years. You'll get used to it.

I on the other hand, have no concept of trends and am the epitome of uncool. I like to think that it's so obvious I don't follow any fashions that I must have a strong sense of individualism and that makes me cool, but that's probably wishful thinking.

Why is it that the moment i read the word "fresh" in the context with a cap, i can´t think of anything else besides ![]() ? It doesn´t even has anything to do with what you wrote ! (And to make it even worse, NOW i i think about the fact that it is nearly impossible to whip your hair back and forth with a cap... I´m probably going nuts oO ) But to stay at least a little bit on topic : when i see price tags/stickers still attached, it looks just stupid to me... they may think it looks "new and fresh", but to me it just looks like they forgot it... its almost as getting your t-shirt the wrong way in the morning because you are too sleepy. But hey, so is fashion trends... there have been worse (anyone remembering Buffalo shoes from the 90´s ? :D)

The hair thing is an assumption, I have longer hair and hats make it look stupid : \

It practically disappears after that since everyone grows up and finds out that a ballin' hairstyle (or a more fashionable hat) is better.

I know where I live, the main Skytrain stop in Richmond they hang around, the mall, Metrotown, Pacific Centre, a lot of North Van.. A lot of the guys do it. Like I mean, a lot. xD

tl;dr (as it should be, being infinitely long and all): I can't stand that trend and think it looks incredibly juvenile and vain.

I was having some beers with a friend one time and a young(er) lady walked by with one of those oversized lids - straight-brimmed with the stickers still on. He proceeded to pull it off of her head and put a 'V' curve in it. I don't think he would have gotten a stronger reaction from somebody had he kicked a pregnant lady in the belly - she absolutely lost it.

Anyways, this seems to be an interesting fashion trend, though I'm so removed from the rest of the world that I have yet to see a widespread example of it. Back in my old high school, hats were against the school dress code, so I often wasn't able to examine any fashion trends for headgear.
