I don't know about anyone else here, but whenever I leave my house, I wear a baseball hat. To this day, I honestly don't know why. I've been doing it as long as I can remember. I have dozens of them, but usually only wear one, then switch up when it gets worn out. Right now I'm sporting a University of Florida hat.
I always take all of the stickers and tags off, and like to curve the brim of the hat. But more and more, I see people (usually younger) wear hats with a straight brim, and with all the stickers on. And every time I see it, I get a bit ticked off.
I mean, it looks so stupid. The straight brim is bad enough, but leaving all the stickers on makes it look like you shoplifted it or something. Why do people do this? And why is this considered cool?
-_-

it's a fashion statement. it's been around for as long as i can recall. just let it go

I think it looks cool. It's just a recent trend. Why do people following any fashion trend do it? Why does any trend look cool?

If you sport a baseball hat often, the girls around you will notice this very quickly and think you're trying to hide a baldness problem.
The reason why kids wear those hats like that are because:
1. They're kids 2. Soulja Boy does it
Haven't you also seen the shirt and pant stickers trend? The way they buy it is the way they wear it, price attached.

I just don't understand. Leaving the tags and stickers and stuff on just seems asinine to me.
Edit: I am eighteen, I don't think that anyone will believe that I am going bald.

Dude, this has been happening for the past 5 years. You certainly need some catching up to do.

This is absolutely ridiculous, of course they won't automatically assume that because he's wearing a baseball hat often he's trying to hide a baldness problem. They will think he wears a baseball hat because he thinks it looks good on him.

Why the HELL would you wear a UF hat? UF/Gainesville is one of the most boring places in all of Florida.
Well I do know why you wear a UF hat, since you need to fit in I guess.
-edit Shit you are only 18? Take off that UF hat my friend and learn to live your life starting today.

Someone explained to me that baseball cap = curbed brim and no stickers
Other types of hat now = straight brim and stickers

I like the colors. And alligators/crocodiles are my favorite animal.
And I live in Michigan. So I guess I look a bit out of place with it
Edit: What do you mean by "learn to live your life?" ;/

One of my professors at my school wears a baseball cap no matter what he is wearing. He showed up at a conference last weekend in a suit, but he still had his trademark baseball cap on.
i don't think he ever takes it off

There was this guy whom I graduated with. He always wore a cap to school, every single day. Heck, he even presented his senior project with the cap on.
It seems as though it can become an addiction, much like anything else can.
I wouldn't be impressed if he told me he showers with it. To me, he looks like this without a cap:

I absolutely LOVE a straight brimmed hat. And with the stickers still on too. Maybe i'm just odd. I don't think I could ever wear one, but the way guys wear them, *thumbs up*
I wouldn't be able to tell you why it's popular though.. It's been popular for quite a long time now, though. o_O

People who live in Gainesville all have one love, and that is University of Florida's football team. Wherever you go (in Gainesville) there is UF Hat, UF shorts, UF t-shirt, UF sweater, and UF crocs on, and this is the fashion here all year round every day which makes life here pretty scary.
What I mean by "learn to live your life" is exactly how it sounds. Like this thread for instance, what is the point other than gathering if other TL members agree with you or not. If you are ever confused about whether you like something or not in life all you have to do is stop caring about what other people think and start thinking about yourself.

I think it has to do with the hat being or appearing "fresh" (not as a synonym for "cool" but rather "brand new") in that a baller can afford a steady supply of fresh shoes, hats and shirts.

That's...a bit creepy. It sounds like some kind of cult.
And no, it's not that I want confirmation of my opinion, I really just want to know what is so appealing about this fashion trend, because I do not understand it.

Gator fans are only fans when their team is winning too which is pretty backwards. But like I said earlier do you REALLY want to know what is so appealing about this fashion trend? Is it interesting to you? I'm pretty sure BroOd has it with the fresh n so clean look idea its very common in low income areas to buy cheap stuff new to look nice like white T's, and these flat brim hats.
This item is what I would call a Lovely Item, something that you wear so people are like "oh that's (insert name here), you can tell by his choice of hat for today". Everyone does this from the poorest to the richest of people, people just want to be noticed.

Lol welcome to today's youth fashion among the used-to-be thugkids.
