So the other day I was watching the first episode of BoXeR's Wings and it got me thinking. How can we measure the greatest player ever? We can't.
Why?
This is just how it works. Maynard comes up with worker transfer: Becomes God, Allah, Buddha, or whatever have you. Then Grr... starts using the technique and soon eclipses Maynard.
BoXeR changes terran forever, throwing out builds and micro that blew people's minds all over the fucking walls. NaDa picks up new and improved terran and starts running a damn train on everyone.
So the greatest player is the person who picks up where the last left off, and furthers their ideas?
Well that's a load of horse shit...
This is the reason that I don't think greatness can be measured over long periods of time. You can be definitely be the greatest of a certain time period, that's indisputable.
You can't say Genghis Khan was the best general ever, still that fucker almost dominated all of Eurasia. But you know, death happens...
He changed the face of warfare forever though?
So I propose a form of anarchy where we measure greatness by how much a person revolutionized their respective 'thing'.
Thoughts?
