There are a lot of problems here, mostly with my laughable unit composition. On Ziggy's side, looks like he needs to work on unit production and on keeping his minerals low. Granted, this match does go on for a while with both of us taking nearly every expansion on the map, but his minerals get up to nearly 10,000 at one point.
Still, for Bronze, I think this is a pretty good game. Even if there is a lot of sitting and waiting.
Replay with commentary in two parts, here and here.
Lessons learned:
1. Keep your head in the game. There's no excuse for going speedling-heavy/roach-supporting against mass stalkers, and there is no excuse for going mass hydras against mass stalkers. This was probably the result of me getting flustered and just spamming random units. I really don't know what happened there.
2. Do better scouting! I scouted his base approximately once the whole match.
3. Take advantage of speedlings' speed. Speedlings offer great map control, but instead I used them as part of my main army. There are a number of expansions I could have taken out with them, but instead they sit around and do nothing most of the time, then are annihilated when I try attacking with them.
4. Take advantage of speedlings' ability to flank. This is something I try to do often, but in this match I fail. I try running them in with the rest of my army, so not only do I not catch Ziggy off-guard with them, but they also get caught up behind my roaches at choke points.
5. When minerals get super high, it never hurts to build an extra hatchery, or even some defensive structures.
PS - Apologies for the nasally voice. I've been getting colds on nearly a weekly basis lately. I blame it on my two-year-old.
