Now a few interesting things happend. First off, i got my first win as zerg! Yay! :D secondly, i got destroyed by a terran! :O
Now i watched a few games of IdrA, including some from his team EGs website where he commented on the gameplay and i saw someone (cant remember who) do this awesome thing against IdrA. Getting a bunch of overseers and contaminating the hatches so he had less larva. I thought, "Awesome! Im gonna do that!" and i did. Now i have to say i dont really know if it had any significant effect or if i would have won those games anyway but i think that actually doing something and not just watching my base and building stuff made me less nervous and that at the very least helped. I havent really watched the replays yet since something is bugging the viewer but i hope its my client and not a problem with the files so you at least can see them. Even though i havent watched them im guessing i could have used the overseers ALOT more than i did but hell, practice makes perfect right?
On a side note, should you ignore queens and just get extra hatches instead in ZvZs to prevent this type of harass?
Anyhow.
I really like my Roach/hydra mix but im thinking about going a little further. Now the question is, should i get infestors in there? They seem like a great unit but super gas heavy and it will prolly take some time to learn to use them correctly. Or should i just try to use burrow more? Like use Tunneling claws to harass or just burrow-micro my roaches in battles? Maybe nydus worms? I wonder what a micro newbie like me should start out with because i obviously want to be able to do it all simultaneously but starting there is suicide.
Another thing i felt when playing today was the third base. I feel suuuuuuper insecure about every part of it. What expo to take, when to take it and where to place my units so they can optimally protect all bases. I could stay on two bases a while longer so i get more basic experience and a better feel for the game, and i will do so if you think its best but ive heard zerg should always try to be one base ahead and if i cant get a third thats practically impossible isint it?
Maybe if i try getting a third i should delay the micro implementation a bit, or vise versa. Honestly, i dont know.
Now i wanted to upload one of the replays to sc2replayed but it wouldnt take it since it was patch 1.2 so i put it in the pack with the rest of the games but it has a special title instead of just the map name. That game a terran attacks me really early with all his workers and wins easily. It felt like i couldnt really spot this but just needed a ton of units to be able to defend or else its instant GG. I got so mad i just left without a word.. Maybe i should at least have given him a GG but it felt like such a cheesy tactic and even worse since i felt like i wouldnt be able to spot it even if i had maphack! Am i wrong in this or was the only way really to just have a ton of units that early? God i hate players like that...
Well its been a long wall-o-text and i hope people read it anyway. Its 2:39 over here so i guess sleep is my next stop but tomorrow there will be more sc2, more videos and more learning! :D
Logging out!
