EPTA bit of background. I'm a hardcore BW fan (not that hardcore only kinda) and was kind of hesitant about switching over to SC2. I didn't like SC2 mainly because of all the petty bickering that would occasionally come up between BW fans and SC2 fans. Anyways, I got one of those guest pass thingies so I decided to do some 2v2 with my friend.
I don't remember the map but we played against two protoss. I decide to play Terran as I had played it previously in the campaign although I really wanted to try out Zerg. So I get cannon rushed and I pull all my SCVs and rines but they die almost instantly. I managed to lift up my CC and two barracks while saving two SCVs.
This is when my BW instinct and APM kicks in. I land at my natural and immediately realize he is trying to cannon rush me from the cliff so I lift off again and land in my friend's natural and start my base there. I manage to build up a respectable amount of marines while my friend goes off to attack the guy who cannon rushed me with Roaches.
After I get like two dozen marines we team up and take out the second protoss easily. +1 weapon kicks in for me a few moments later and we go and kill the cannon rusher who managed to stay alive by building a base at my old starting spot.
We win surprisingly easily so we decide to try our luck on another match.
We manage to get paired up against a Terran and Protoss on some map where there was one choke on one side and destructible rocks on the other side of the shared base. I see them walling off so I think we should ride the eco advantage by taking an expo or two.
My friend takes an expo not to far from his starting point while I, being sneaky, try to pull off a hidden expansion. He gets attacked by Protoss after a few minutes but manage to fend off the attack with a little assistance from my Marine/Tank combo.
The enemy Terran tries to assist the Protoss with Marine/Marauder but we overwhelm them with our macro. We push them back all the way to their natural but hold off for a second as I want to wait for a few more units, namely Medivacs to join the fray.
After I get a few Medivacs into the group (and he a few Roaches and lings) we push in and overwhelm with sheer number. Terran falls in a matter of seconds and Protoss manages to put up a better fight with DTs but I scan and the rest is history.
Two matches and two wins in our placement matches. We would have played more but I was dead tired (seriously I don't know how everyone can play for more than two hours).
Anyways, concluding thoughts...
1) I know my story is lame
2) Marines are crazy strong
3) My BW skills helped out a lot in the transition over to SC2
4) I still enjoy BW but SC2 is fun too
5) I still don't know what the blog section in TL is for.
6) I'm tired I'm going to bed
Especially considering most, if not all, my friends, switched over.
