14 December, Lessons from Day9 applied!

Flenser166 United States96 Posts December 15 2010 03:44 GMT #1 After the early morning cheesing that I got with, I hopped back into the ladder this evening. The first replay here is a win courtesy of watching the Day9 daily in regards to an early expander. Here's the brief summary. TvT I was going for opening with the 1/1/1, it looks like to me my timings are getting better as far as the initial setup goes. I'm getting better about sending out the scv to scout after the second supply depot goes down, which payed off here as I saw the early expand, realized those minerals to drop the expand came from somewhere and assumed it was his troop budget, rallied the rax and factory over and proceeded to promptly kill him. http://www.sc2replayed.com/replays/116311-1v1-terran-shakuras-plateau Any comments that you have to offer are much appreciated!

goswser United States3548 Posts December 15 2010 03:53 GMT #2 Pretty good job, although I have several critiques of the game. I think the second gas should have been added slightly earlier, and you could have been producing scvs more consistently; especially when pushing with the 3 marines, 1 marauder, 1 hellion, you forgot to build scvs a bit. My only other critique would be your response to his fast expand. Instead of adding the extra 2 raxes, you should probably expand yourself instantly while getting tank/viking/marine, otherwise if he had a bunker or defended the first push you would be far behind. A starport as soon as the factory finishes can help, because then you can use a quick hellion drop to punish a fast expand while expoing yourself to catch up.

I'm hoping that just comes with games played, where I don't have to concentrate so much to maintain the macro while I make an attempt at micro. Normally I go Rax>Factory>Starport to start, I guess reacting with 2 raxes to reenforce the little push may have been overkill :-/ Thanks again!
