AFTER days and days of paper pushing and bureaucratic wayfaring, we were finally able to secure the permits for documentary work on the bombing of yeonpyeong island.

the bombing has attracted worldwide attention and tension is high on how it affects the current geopolitics in the region, particularly with china and russia involved. NK insists to this day the SK started the bombing. popular political consensus is that the bombings, along with the navy bombing last may, is a baptism of fire for kim jong eun to get his military stripes required to succeed his father's dictatorship.

what may never find the news is the amount of human damage that the bombings have caused. we arrive 5am, and what greeted us was a vision worthy of hell. the early morning lights lifted the fog upon the ghost town - eerie and without a single vibe of life. the charred buildings and the general desolation of the place brings a real palpable account of what otherwise is statistics.

we should be ashamed as human beings of the things we do to each other. it is just stupid.

Agree. arent you scared of a second bombing there? I don't know that much about the situation but you never know what crazy ideas these idiot have next :/

And could you upload some photos maybe?

Well-wishes for those affected by this tragedy

On a side note, I believe if NK were to attack a second time, they would bomb closer to Seoul or another major city, to try and create the effect that they are closing in...
I don't know much Korean geography, so correct me if Yeonpyeong is Seoul's next-door-neighbor =/

most think the bombing was mere saber ratlling rather than an all-out war. there might be another bombing who knows, but its part of the job. we lived in bunkers and relied on the military. it was a short stint anyway. we're still in postproduction. i'll post vid and photos here once we have done the show and got clearance from our studio bosses.

and yeah, if there is another bombing, it will be serious this time, and it will be in seoul or any other major city, possible even japan or alaska. yeonpyeong is an island northwest close to the NK border.

what is strange though is the presence of us fleet in the area, even prior to the bombings. reports from NK point to this (US presence) and that they struck preemptively or only after SK fired first. US should get out of this.

NK can forge and concoct all sorts of stories, and the only people who will buy that is the NK people.
This is a regime that has been deceiving its own people for ever since they have been exsisting. I don't even know what will happen if they attack Seoul other than all-out war. There is no way South Korean citizens, let alone the government, will take another punch in the mouth and play gandhi. SK already declared that any more attacks, regardless where, will result in military planes flying to NK and dropping bombs. (I thinks with US). If US enters into NK territory, you know hell is breaking loose.
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Not to be harsh or insensitive to your situation, but U.S. is not the problem; NK is. And the U.S. is definitely not going anywhere, we are South Korea's ally in both times of peace and times of war and I believe our absence would be quite the detriment if this were to escalate.

There is no doubt SK would win a war with NK (with or without US help). The real problem is that SK cannot take care of the 25M starving North-Korean. The reunification of Germany costed an enormous amount of money and still has an economic impact to this day and that was in the best situation possible with a very strong West-Germany and a relatively small and well developed (compared to NK) East-Germany.
I'll let you imagine what would happen to the flourishing South-Korean economy after a war with NK (wit Seoul the heart of the south-korean economy so close to the border). It make senses that the South-Korean politicians would do everything they can to prevent war, NK is just abusing this fact.

Verily, it is no state secret that what keeps NK floating is help from China, Russia, and SK. massive, help. In fact korean transnationals LG, Samssung, and Hyundai have sustained and regular subsidy to NK healthcare and welfare programs (if it can be called that at all).

It might be difficult to understand, but the situation is not black and white, and definitely not about one country fearing another. SK alone has more than enough technology to erase NK from the face of the earth anytime. What is being prevented here is getting things out of hand and forcing an unnecessary and wasteful war. koreans have been there before. NK is playing the odds.

About US. Thanks Whiladan for expressing your thoughts, but without giving a lecture on geopolitics and global economy, let me say this. the US has NO business sending military forces in korea, just at it had NO business in the iraq and afgan war. this is not a simple matter of big strong brother helping others keeping the peace. there are a lot of economic and political interests in line here, for the US mostly.

Ok. I am sympathetic to your situation and am not here to argue with you. I was merely stating my opinion, as are you.
