So FINALLY(after almost 2 weeks) I got a call back from USNR saying I got the job. I got hired along with 2 other people, although I don't think they are co-op students too.
I will be working 40 hours a week, full-time, 8am-4:30pm Monday through Friday. I get a half hour unpaid lunch, as well as 2 10 minute paid breaks every day, which is virtually the same as my breaks for a 8 hour shift at save-on-foods at the moment.
I asked for $16/hour starting wage, but the company is unionized and was only able to offer me $14/hour starting wage, which I'm content with seeing as I make $11/hour at save-on-foods right now. The manager said they are in the process of negotiations so it is likely that I will get an increase though.
I'm available for an 8 month co-op term, although the job was posted as a 4 month term, but the manager said if everything goes well they shouldn't have a problem extended it to make it 8 months instead, which I'm hoping for. If everything goes great then hopefully they will consider asking me to return after my last year of schooling or give me the option to stay there longer or what have you. My first day is going to be Monday, January 3rd, 2011.
I'm really glad I got the job, I'm extremely excited to get out of save-on-foods and start working in the field. My hours are also extremely unreliable as save-on-foods, so I'm having a hard time getting enough shifts to even pay bills and food and such. Despite the fact that I've been at save-on-foods for almost 3 years I'm still second from the bottom of the employee list in my department, so all my hours practically are coming from when people call in sick or don't show up or something.
One other thing; I'm currently 780~ points away from C+ on my main iCCup account, which has been my goal for a long time now, so tune in to watch me get beat back down to C- continuously on my stream in the next couple weeks.
