except for 5 minutes for a really urgent toilet break, i didnt get off my ass playing SC bw from 2:10 pm till 4:35 pm today, neglecting sleep, food, water etc.

i've been trying to quit playing starcraft for ages but always, later i tell myself "ill just have 1 game for fun, i can control myself", and i play harder than before

Smoorn might have been temp banned, but he's right. Neglecting sleep and food is just stupid.

People like you suddenly die, it goes into the news, and then we all get a bad rep. It's because of people like you that in my Congress Debates, I actually have a bill that says, "Due to the number of video game related deaths, game manufacturers should be obligated create timers that will turn off a game for an allotted time after a person has played x hours."

Could never do that to be honest. After about 5 hours my fingers start to hurt and within the next 2 more hours my brain usually gets really tired. Now to imagine 19 more hours of SC I would probably pass out at some point...

How many points did you get?

It's fine to play for a day straight but you should at least drink some water dude, food can be dismissed since you don't want to wait but at least get some water man T_T

I don't know how people can do this. Even when I am on the computer all day when I don't have to work, I have to take breaks every 40 or so minutes and go walk around and enjoy the sunshine out of my window or play with my kitten or something. I've never understood how you can be so addicted that you never get up and move.

I think it's pretty stupid and unhealthy to do anything for that long without sleeping, drinking and eating. Just make sure you don't die behind your computer.

yeah, i posted this because its an addiction im not proud of lol, wasn't looking for and definitely wasnt expecting props lol

anyways, i can't sleep, because i actually should have used that time to do a lab report, 2 assignments, study for 2 quizzes all due on monday lol

i didnt play straight on one account, i use a couple

internal_error
[uoft]FDP
hamsuplo
diu9lei
chingpokstreet
canyoudogatsby

although i dont think i used my main acc hamsuplo or canyoudogatsby as much as others. also, for some reason, the players at korean time are way easier than players at non-korean time lol.

i mainly played pvt, because every game was like "tvp, you p", so i tried out a variety of things such as fast reaver, bulldog, 2 base carrier rush, and playing macro. also i tried out some builds i saw progamers used, such as brave/m18m using forward gate vs skyhigh/piano (on maps with no ramp) and microing. i'm not really good but i did improve on stopping terran pushes

edit:
my eyes are red and they sting a bit, i have some lumps on my neck but i think thats because of my lack of showering, and i have some really weird smelling fluid in my nose. head feels a bit heavy, but otherwise i dont feel like absolute shit

If you did this for the fun of it, you're suicidal.

Regardless of whether playing for 26 hours straight is dangerous or not, it's almost as bad as racing on the freeway for the same reason. Plus, what does it accomplish besides temporal fulfillment?

If you did this to improve, you're an idiot.

If even machines overheat and need to stop from time to time, start thinking about how much more does a human being needs its rest time as well. Your body is punishing you right now because you deserve it and I hope it lasts for a while.

I'd love for you to do this again, though.

How is anybody seriously praising the OP for this? You can spend the whole day playing scbw, yeah that's your choice what you do with your time. But, nobody should be completely neglecting sleep, food and drink all at the same time for 26 hours straight. And nobody should be encouraging that sort of behaviour. People have died doing such things.

OP, try and take care of your body please!

So I take it you've never pulled an all-nighter for school? Studying/doing work for school overnight is also taxing on a body but a lot of people do it regularly. I will agree that there is a smart way to spend those 26 hours of BW (with a pitcher full of water and some crackers, at least SOMETHING), but the point still stands.

I guess his other posts are probably bad but I do think this poster is right that not eating and not drinking for 26 hours is very bad. Plus not sleeping. It is a very poor choice and poor choices are truthfully the evidence of idiocy although there are probably nicer ways to put it. Oh I guess this post was edited so it probably worse before or something. Not eating is ESPECIALLY bad if you are doing something as mentally exhausting as Starcraft. Starcraft needs more calories than physical exercise, probably, I know I took a 4 hour GRE and forgot to eat before it and I could hardly walk at the end and SC is probably more demanding and 26 hours of it could be a really big problem. I mean someone died from playing WoW for what 48 hours? And SC takes a lot more energy than WoW so 26 hours could have severe health effects and you have to worry about it becoming lethal at some point.

i dont think ive ever heard of someone doing 26hours of studying straight with minimal bathroom/eating

I didn't say it was AS unhealthy, but it's in the same ballpark. I've heard of people studying for 24 hours straight.

This is not dedication or anything positive because this obviously isn't a way to get better.

My guess is you're covering up severe depression or anxiety.

I don't think I've ever done over 24 hours of gaming before. I think the most I've gamed is 18 hours (maybe? probably less actually), but that was full of snacks and bath room breaks as well as TL breaks lol.

People have died doing such things.

OP, try and take care of your body please!

So I take it you've never pulled an all-nighter for school? Studying/doing work for school overnight is also taxing on a body but a lot of people do it regularly. I will agree that there is a smart way to spend those 26 hours of BW (with a pitcher full of water and some crackers, at least SOMETHING), but the point still stands.

i dont think ive ever heard of someone doing 26hours of studying straight with minimal bathroom/eating

I didn't say it was AS unhealthy, but it's in the same ballpark. I've heard of people studying for 24 hours straight.

No one said studying 24 hours straight was good for you either.

Forget about actual health, studying for 24 hours straight means that you won't be getting all the information down, and you will be forgetting stuff, unable to fully comprehend things, etc. It's much better to space out your studying. Of course, most people who study for 24 hours straight probably do so because they are cramming, which in itself is stupid. Nevertheless, a situation is created where it becomes necessary to study for so long. At this point, continuous studying could be the best option.

But where is the necessity in playing for 26 hours straight? If not the obsession factor, I can't see a way in which taking a break to eat, drink, or sleep would not be better, both for overall enjoyment of the day and health in general.

This would be a feat if it were set up as an event, like Raelcun's end of beta cast or something. When David Blaine does his endurance stunts, no one says, "omg that's unhealthy " because everyone already knows that it is. It's done as a one time, planned, event.

It's ridiculous to praise someone who sits down and plays for 26 hours. Of course it's cool to you. Some naked guy jumping from the rooftop of one moving car to the next would be cool to me too, but that doesn't make it right. I feel like we owe our fellow TL member some more respect. At least he recognizes that what he's doing isn't right.

I remember that video of the person who played wow for like 24 hours with no break or something. That was terrifying.

Just because some people do it doesn't mean this sort of behaviour should be endorsed, least of all praised. The OP (or anybody else) should at least have a few breaks to eat or drink next time he thinks of doing something like this, and you're trying to defend people congratulating him for ignoring his bodily needs? Can we use some common sense please and remember that forum communities aren't just about proving people wrong.

wtf is auckland?

anyways I KNOW that its unhealthy for me to do this. i'm not looking for praise. i'm posting this to vent my frustration of my addiction for starcraft. i wanted to stop at like at least 3-4 am but i kept playing. i think i could have handled more, but i couldnt even see properly so i took a break.

like i said, i wanted to quit starcraft for ages but addiction keeps bringing me back

You're a brave soul. I could not play iCCup that long straight. I'd end up throwing my monitor at a wall at about 10 hours, and by 26 I'd be punching kittens.

Although that is probably not healthy, I cannot say I have not done the same thing with different games, although I ate.

It's okay, Student Congress is illegit anyways.

But I mean I think it's probably granted that the OP recognizes that 26 hours of gaming straight is not such a great idea, just saying it's stupid won't help him much...

thats nuts man
The thing about the guinness record is bull... lots of kids in korea play way more than 50+ hours straight
ive stayed up for 60+ hours playing diablo2 with my friends but never starcraft... it stresses me out too much lol and i took breaks to eat and drink.. the bill came out to around 50 bucks with 20 spent on food and 30 for the 2 nights + how many ever hours left - hours gained from mileage lol
mad props to you for pulling this off, i think id rather go jump off a tall building if somebody told me to play sc for 26 hours straight

While I can see the alure in playing SC for 26 hours straight, it's not good for you, dude. As people have pointed out earlier it can be extremely dangerous for you.

For your own sake, I'd highly suggest not doing that again.

Heya. I like running numbers:

Total games played: 51
Win: 36
Loss: 15
Time between start of first and end of last game: 25 hours, 9 minutes
Total time spent in game: 13 hours, 37 minutes
Average game time: 16 minutes, 2 seconds

Does Guinness World Records accept Starcraft feats?
