I bought SEA sc2 at launch, even though I barely played sc1 at all.
Started off with terran, played my placements and got placed in silver. Soon worked my way up to gold, until I couldn't take the pressure anymore, and started playing exclusively.
At this time i was playing 3v3 and 4v4 with my friends exclusively, at around the gold level. Decided to go random to enjoy all aspects of this fantastic game.
Soon it became obvious that playing random was detrimental to my team because I didn't really get to practice any build order/macro mechanism that much. My girlfriend suggested I play zerg because I was trying to improve my macro (not watching my battles at all). So yeah. I was infested. I also became more obsessed with improving. So I took advice from the great day9, and spent all my 3v3, 4v4 games focusing on not missing any inject larva, not getting supply capped.
Fast forward about a month later, I'm in the UK for the 3rd year of uni. US access was given, and I moved over straight away. Decided to throw my placement 1v1 match so I would care abit less for my win loss ratio.
I decided that I would play 3 matches a day until I got to diamond. Chose to stick to 5RR for every single matchup (except ZvZ, where it's too much rock paper scissors). 60 games later, I got promoted straight from bronze to diamond!
TL;DR
1.Day9 dailies really do make you a better gamer.
2.Macro alone really does get you into diamond.
Anyway, I'll be happy to help zerg players of any level break into diamond! Just ask! :D
Also, what builds do you guys recommend as a general opening for each matchup? I really want to learn some pool-hatch or hatch-pool openings to suit my macro style of play.
Enjoy your weekend guys!
