edit: Lol I have no idea how I made the connection between mozilla and adobe, I must have burst a blood vessel in my brain or something oO
So today when I got home from work I open up firefox and I am told in capital letters that I need to upgrade my flash player. So I go to the adobe site and press the download link.
First warning light goes off when the instructions on the next page are not telling me how to install flash, but how to install the adobe download manager. The only hint I had that I was even in the right place was that the title said "flash player"
So fuck it, I click the "allow" bar at the top and I restart firefox when the plugin is installed. As soon as I press restart I go and get myself a drink. When I come back, it seems the download is finished and done with, seeing as how the download manager is empty and a big "close download manager" button is visible at the bottom.
I go to Youtube, no dice, apparently I don't have flash player. Miffed, I go back to get.adobe and I try again. This time I am directed to the same dlm instruction page as before, only now I'm told I need to download an additional plugin in order to view the page content. I go for it, and it fails. It suggests I try manually installing, but when I download it it's a .xip file or some shit and I say no thanks. Judging by its name it doesn't even have anything to do with flash.
So I google my problems and I come upon a fellow on a messageboard with a link.
https://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe
I click it, flash installs, and I'm done.
WHAT THE FUCK DID I NEED ADOBE'S SHITTY DOWNLOAD MANAGER FOR?
AAAAH!
God that pissed me off. I thought open source was supposed to prevent useless shit you didn't want or need. When did Mozilla turn into Microsoft?
Anyway, if you're having the same problems, try that link up there and tell Adobe's download manager to go fuck itself.

oh god. i have been there bro. same exact story. made me rage so hard at adobe :0

haha i wanted to install flash player on my mothers notebook about two weeks ago. Guess what? Adobe website was down and i had to find an up2date installer on some third party software dl site >.<

I had Windows Live Messenger bitch at me for a month saying I need to update my adobe flash player. Heck, I updated it a million times (well, uninstall + reinstall a million times of the same, most-updated version) and it never worked. It turned out that I needed it to install it for IE (not FF or Chrome)... so I installed IE, installed flash player, WLM stopped bitching, so I uninstalled IE. Oh the IT bureaucracy drama.

lol?
When did Mozilla turn into Microsoft?
this makes even less sense. adobe writes their flash players and installers, not mozilla or microsoft.

i'm having same problem as OP but when I try to install this it just says "No error information can be provided" for w/e the error is T_T
FUCK I JUST WASTED MY 4000TH ON THIS SHIT FUCK ADOBE

OP being completely clueless about how open source, software and plugins work, blaming the wrong party makes for an entertaining post.

That's like blaming your parents when you crash your car. It makes no sense.
DLM is nice when you have multiple Adobe products (like Photoshop, Acrobat, Flash, etc) as it updates everything all at once and I don't have to go update 12 different programs individually.

This isn't the fault of Mozilla or Firefox or open source (or Microsoft, for that matter). It was Adobe's proprietary plugin to Firefox that nagged you into installing this unnecessary crudware. Blame them.

I mean raging about not being able to watch youtube videos is completely reasonable but raging about accidentally getting the adobe dlm while trying to install flash?

If you're that incompetent, perhaps you should just get an Apple product.
They just work.

Try chrome, it has built in flash, so even people like you can browse youtube without headaches.

that is, until you're feeling sexy and want to try out that linux compatibility layer it inherited from freeBSD, so you install fink project, and then get stuck in dependency hell for the next five hours trying to install an irc client.

I had this same issues when trying to watch porn. It took me three attempts to get adobe flash working because it kept forwarding me to the download manager page.
Do you know how annoying it is to open 7 porn videos 3 fucking times only to have to reload that shit?
The things I do for masturbation.

Yeah the Adobe DLM has never worked properly for me either, it tries to update my stuff and just fails to do it, so I have to do it manually.

Not to mention the fact that their definition of "dependancies" revolves around their parents' bank account.
