I'm getting a razer mouse as a thanks for helping my father. I know there are some to choose from and I would like some input from TL.

I have a razer Diamondback 3g. It's a good lower/mid level for a gaming mouse. I love the on-the-fly sensitivity adjustment. And the mouse has never given me any problems at all. You just have to make sure you take care of it and don't drop it or sling it around by the cord. I also have the Salmosa but I prefer the palm grip while the Salmosa is primarily a claw grip.

Not too sure but most of the mouses conform to dpi and sizes, also button configuration preferences. I myself am looking into getting a Razer Naga for the button config.

Edit: oh yah forgot about grip thanks above poster, i have a liking to the fingertip grip also cause it comes naturally to me.

It all depends on the size of your hand, your way of holding the mouse, and other personal preferences.
The best way to choose is to go to a gaming store and try to ask the mice. You won't be able to see the accuracy in your favorite game, but I can assure you that every Razer mouse is very accurate.
I personally own a Krait and love it.

You should use the search function to get more infos, there are already dozens of threads about choosing a mouse.

I'm pretty satisfied with my Razer Viper. I got it on sale really cheap, and it's just a normal mouse but better (ie no gimmicky shape and buttons). I like traditional mice.

BUT, if you're getting one as a gift you might want something better.

Don't worry about the statistics (DPI etc) too much, not for Starcraft. I play with a Logitech Mini Optical and an Abyssus/Deathadder and the Optical feels a lot better most of the time (in SC2) because of its shape. So pick one based on your hand size and how you grip. Abyssus/Salmosa/Salmosa Pro Gamer for the claw/small hand and Deathadder for the bigger hand.

The Deathadder is a great mouse BUT it's very heavy - IMO too heavy to properly play RTS with. If you want a mouse for general use or FPS games, go for a Deathadder. If you want a ballin' SC mouse, use the money from the Razer mouse to buy like 5 Logitech Mini Opticals (I also own one of these) which are hands down the best mouse for RTS play imho.

I use an abyssus and it's great for claw/fingertip grip. Quite affordable aswell, atleast compared to other Razer mice.

salmosa is the way to go. simple and sleek but very functional and responsive.

personally i hate bells and whistles, shiny lights, all that crap.

size/shape is the most important thing and the salmosa is very comfortable and light

I suggest you go to http://www2.razerzone.com/MouseGuide/index.html and do the configurator to suit your needs.

Personally I suggest deathadder.

If you do not claw grip I suggest the DA, it may be heavy, but it glides so easily. Also the build of the mouse is great, nice to hold for a while.

If you got huge hands like me (ctrl to 9 ez) go with Salmosa, although I guess I´d want a bit more sensitivity so maybe Abyssus?
It´s the new Salmosa as far as I know.

I use a Lachesis. The shape is a little bit different from more traditional mouses (mice?) but now that I'm used to it, I can't imagine ever using anything else.

Deathadder and Abyssus have the best sensors of any mice on the market.

Deathadder is shaped like a Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0, while the Abyssus is smaller and designed for a claw grip. It's the successor to the Salmosa.

I have a Diamondback 3G and I love it. I find it a lot more comfortable and less gimmicky than Razer's newer mice. Before my 3G I had a Krait, I don't even know if they sell those anymore but that was even better than the 3G, but I pinched the cord in something and snipped it T^T

Depending on what you like want.

If you prefer a smaller mice: an Abyssus or Salmosa is the way to go. (depending on your price range). Obviously, the Abyssus is the newer and more advanced (3500 dpi sensor), but that doesn't necessarily make it better for your needs. If you're looking at smaller mice these are the two you want to look at. Smaller mice are more ideal for RTS games (IMO). Perfect for if you use the claw or fingertip grip.

If you prefer a bulkier mice: the Deathadder is the way to go. Having a similar shape to Microsoft IME 3.0. Perfect if you're a palm grip user.
