The theme of Zerg vs Terran, is Zerg frantically microing around trying to hold off terran harrass while terran can do whatever since Zerg cant leave his base. I dont think this is what blizzard wants. And as far as patches go, do you guys not remember, I think it was SC1 patch 1.08? Which completely changed the game and it was fine?

But wouldn't all the hellion kiting come at a cost to macroing? Or is macroing really that trivial to do at that early in the game? I would tend to think that being able to counter native advantages with superior micro is a good thing. After all, its quite satisfying to take out a lurker field with a well executed surround.

Roaches were always the counter to both that's why you have Marauders and actually have to make decisions instead of having one build to rule all Zerg builds. DERP Hellion into whatever is the answer to everything since Hellions can kite Roaches. yeah....derp hellions... Thats why you see all those mass hellion builds completely rolling over Z. No, roaches still counter hellions/reaper, its just possible in some circumstances to still use them against each other. With these proposed changes you go from a "traditional" SC counter that can be equalized with enough apm investment in small numbers (vulture-dragoon, mutalisk-MnM, Lurker-Marine) into a much simpler hard counter relationship. Yes, Z has been having trouble with these units in SC2, but hopefully we can find a solution that doesn't dumb down and simplify the game.

Personally I've never like the reaper, it has no purpose other than as a harass unit. Sometimes its okay as part of a ground army early on, but once you have stim, marines are clearly better. For all those claiming roaches are going to be just like they were in beta.... think about it again. beta roach had 2 armor and was 1 food with 3 range. Is a 2 food unit with 1 armor and 4 range just as imbalanced? The terran supply depot requirement surprised me, but its the "balance teams without affecting 1v1". Proxy reaper+lings is insane. Still it hurts terran's cheesing opportunities in 1v1.

Mass reaper builds were'nt defended by roaches until you got roach speed, you used mostly speedlings. Nobody goes mass hellions. Hellions are a way of 1: Forcing spines/queens/roachs/speedlings 2: killing/preventing drones 3: having a safe expo.

The point is that you need "soft-counters" like we see in Brood War. The idea that units only have advantages over other types of units when properly microed , or when a unit can do OK against another unit when microed. Literally all combat situations were soft counters in Brood War. No one seems to understand this concept anymore, and without soft counters the game degenerates into a "macro only 1a2a3a" game. Notable examples include stuff like AOE2, Empire Earth, CnC (already mentioned).

SUPPLY DEPOT BEFORE BARRACKS? WTF BLIZZARD? I ABSOLUTELY LOVE A 10 RAX OPENING, FOR NON CHEESE PURPOSES!!!!! Ok, I do get slightly quicker hellions if I want it, or quicker Marauders, but the difference is less than 10 seconds quicker than a standard 12 rax, and I have to delay my OC until after my Factory (I like to play aggressively, but not cheesy). This change would throw literally hundreds of games of testing out the window for me..... The reaper nerfs I get, the zerg buffs I get, but this is just fucking crazy..... I mean, an equivalent change for Z would be adding a requirement for a 2nd hatch before a spawning pool..... Or 2 additional overlords. Or some other, stupid change..... This is fucking pathetic if they actually change that..... I don't mind the changes to the reaper, but this is fucking rediculous..... I'm glad I bought Civ 5 today.....

If that doesn't work, you can turtle on 2 bases, and hope the zerg flies a bunch of ols filled with ultralisks into your thors. And then you learn how to play the game

In Blizzard's view, if customers want more competition and an extremely balanced in-depth game, then they can play BW. However, at the moment all the noobies seem quite content with HD and Husky and the new graphics and MLG, so Blizzard just says "that's done, let's work on our new game now and hype that up for years". Blizzard has insisted on not listening to the competitive BW scene...so what can you do. I didn't bother with SC2 for this reason.

I dunno I think the OP covered most of what I would want to complain about so I'll just leave it at that.
