just as the title says, this are about my misadventures in MLM shit and stuff. I've been a victim and somehow did earn a little in my exploitations but now as I write this blog, I'm not to proud on what I did.
Currently, if you ask me on what I'm doing.. I'm just chilling at a BPO taking pre-paid visa calls which are so damn boring (if you're an existentialist) but for me it's one of those best minimal jobs since this shit doesn't stress me out.
Anyway enough of that and let's talk about how did I ended up in pyramding for the past 7 months of my life.
I was pretty fucked up, before I did join an legit MLM company I was a bum for 9 months. Recession caught up to me after I resigned from my previous work which is tech supporting (see: manual removal of viruses). I wasn't too concerned about a nice paying job before since I'm more of looking for experience so I can leave the country with technical skills. But now I remembered, my life was composed of teamliquid.net, SC:BW and my girlfriend. So I just summarized things in a nut shell.
Anyway, the reason I got into that pyramiding scheme is that they caught me off guard with my desperation. All that bullshit they talked about employees not getting paid jack shit for their efforts, them being on top of the world because of they payslips, and other things that will play with your fantasies are just ways to make you pay for a membership. So it's a little bit of being desperate and playing with you fantasies..
So like the dumb-ass that I am at times I joined, but there's a catch? why the fuck I joined this shit even thought I know for a fact I wouldn't get rich? It's because the top earners are my good friends in COUNTER-STRIKE! Yes, that's right, some of them are previously semi-pro players that I also lived with in a LANshop for a few months. (before, we were just a bunch of smelly nerds living on one roof playing games and shit).
So I know for a fact that I would be able to exploit them a little (my uplines) becausethey will be providing me some (downlines).
you know what, I am right but at the same time when they gave me some my so called downlines these people were good friends of ours from counter strike. (meaning, some of them joined because they saw me join).
In reality, these friends of mine have their own little agendas. Some of them have a lot of what I call "heads" aka accounts in the system that would make you triple your paychecks. Some of them are being paid since they are already known in the industry (hence, why they have these luxury cars and shit). Because they are the people you guys call the "1% sales god".
They also have this training bullshit that I call "mind control sessions". At first it was great cause I'm learning the necessary techniques on how to do the MLM business. but after months and months of listening to these guys, I found out that I'm just learning to alter my brain into their own reality.
I'm not saying these guys are evil, (they do go to church and this just business, nothing personal). But the thing is that they a condescending attitude towards us average joes. (which I hate the most).
Alright so that a little background on the people I knew. Now let's get to "teh juicy" part.
regarding my success rate, It sucks in all honestly, I was able to make a lot. I made around $1,500 in 7 months (1,500 is pretty big here in the Philippines) but that 1,500 is like break even since I had to help the people below my organization. So I think I was just paying them shit and stuff. while earning at the same time. break even is th word here
As of the moment, my left side of the system is becoming HUGE! maybe worth 200,000 pesos right now, but it's still a fucked up task since my right side isn't moving as much as my left side. That's some of them in that company would say I'm dumb since I only need to work on my right side. In reality if you can't get the necessary people to work for you, you'll lose more money than you'll earn. (since you need to back these guys up at times which needs time, effort and sometimes money)
regarding effort, sometimes I realized that law of equivalent exchange it's true. first 5 months in the business it was fucked, I really did everything I can and good thing one of my uplines (CS friend) was good enough to help me with my efforts. But I can really say that if you put enough effort to it, you will really get a downline.. then you lose that downline after a few months .
I've tried my best to keep these people alive. to the point I lend them money so that they can come to the office, some of them provided good results others are just a pain in the ass. There was this one kid that I got while I was recruiting people a certain school that came to me and paid for the membership. Only to find out right now that dumbass is going to be a father that's why he kept on borrowing a few hundred pesos from me. the bad thing about it is that he never provided any results since he was pretty bad with the business. (like you guys said, it's not for everyone)
Also, holy shit I just remembered! before, I went to Baguio which is a mountain province (so filipino's reading this blog will ROFL on me) it's a 5 hour travel from manila to that place. I went there and I thought I was going to sell this stuff there and all I got was a stupid Yes that didn't go into fruition. Man, my expenses there all in all was around 3,000.
regards to learning, I think this is the best thing I had with me even thought I'm not doing the business. I learned a lot about psychology of each person I talked too, I think I can be a good sales man if you pitch me to that certain job. I made a lot of sales that's why I earned a little, except that I am a lazy ass when I realized all my efforts are in vain. (everytime someone joins my organization, then leave in a couple of months)
Also, it's sad there are two friends of my that joined up the business. now they want to sell their food franchises (yes I was the person that sold them, since I said to them it's cheap and they get to practice their entrepreneurship skills). one of them still has trusts me since it's his bad call (their location sucks btw to put up a stall there) but he tells me if I can resell the stall for him, which made me of course feel a little guilty.
Good thing about my experience is that meeting a lot of people, didn't make me nervous in interviews and shit when applying for work. I already have the ability to be friends with anyone since I'm not afraid of rejections and failures.
Made me business-minded as well, so if ever I launch my own traditional business. I would know how to carry myself.
learned a lot of fundamentals when applying for a food franchise (since we sell businesses as well, hence why I sold two franchises to two friends of mine). Even to these days. there's like 5 friends who are interested in getting a franchise from me, I always shrug them off telling them it's much better they just have a sari-sari store because the success rate of the stall is so fucking low if you have land it on a bad location.
Anyway, that's it I guess. it's going to be a pretty confusing and eye-opening read for you Filipino's who wants to enter the MLM world.
Moral Lesson:
if you really think you can stomach rejections and failures, have what it takes in the industry to get rich then go for it. But I'm suggesting that you take the long way go like me, I'd rather go for a fixed income job then apply for a business loan and start my own business with some good partners.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this TLDR of a blog.
