Without further ado, here we go:
TAKING IT SERIOUSLY
MAKING A PLAN
One or two of you might've seen me posting around, but I'm probably a new face for most of you. I've been playing SC2 since the start of the beta, more or less, although my laddering has been sporadic. When I first got into the beta, my thoughts were very much built around "where am I going with this?"
It's a question, I'm sure, many of you have asked yourselves.
Take a look at Huk's interview in the recent news post. His ambition is rather potent. He knew he could do well at the game, worked hard at it, and now he's playing for one of the top teams and being sent to compete in the largest of tournaments. Do you know something? I think I can do well too.
"So why haven't you?!"
Because I wasn't taking it seriously. I'd play maybe two or three ladder games and leave it at that. I got into the Diamond League after playing about twenty games. While my mechanics aren't practiced and my builds aren't refined, my ability to think my way around a problem and reason out solutions always gave me an edge. So what am I going to do? I'm going to start taking it seriously - starting today.
THE PLAN
Four hours of ladder, every day I can manage. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday might be difficult, but I'll do as much as possible. No excuses, which were holding me back previously - 'Too tired to play' and suchlike. Day[9] often talks of a player he knew who soared up, who'd train while hot, while cold, while tired, while on coffee, so he knew what it'd do to him. If I can only play great when wide awake, I'm not so awesome, am I?
Most days I'll start playing around 15:00 GMT (+00:00) (I hope that bbcode thing works), have a break around 17:00 GMT (+00:00) and then carry on after I've eaten some dinner. I'll also be streaming my efforts, talking about what I'm doing, discussing patches and mentality - if you're interested, I'm in the non-featured streams. I play random for now, but I'll be looking to settle on a race soon.
In shorthand:
Start Playing: 15:00 GMT (+00:00)
Break: 17:00 GMT (+00:00)
Finish Playing: 19:00 GMT (+00:00)
Current Objectives:
Find a Race
Improve Mechanics - Focus on non-stop production
Why should I care?
Because these blogs are open for discussions, one topic I'm curious about for most people is: What are you looking to get out of SC2? I know most people here have a serious mindset when it comes to gaming, or you wouldn't be here, so are you looking to play in tournaments? Are you looking to just be good?
Concluding
I'm good at gaming. I may be rusty, but I learn fast. I think I can play at a professional level, so lets take it seriously - and lets see what happens.
