It's not the end of the world yet.
Yes, the situation doesn't look spectacular right now, especially not for BW, and not exactly brilliant for esports industry either.
There's a lot of inside things that go around the e-Sports industry for sure. A lot of them we don't know, good and bad. But remember, a lot of the proteams are still showing signs of surviving and looking forward to the next season. Let's not call it off dead yet.
We're in rough times. Let's not make it worse by panicking, jumping ship, etc. It's not dead yet, stay hopeful. The more you panic, the more others panic, and honestly it's not the best move.
One of Fomos' reporters has mentioned that he will have some good news for BW leagues soon. Let's stay hopeful, alright? :D

when people say to calm down...then its time to freak out because there is a legitimate reason to freak out now.

I really hope you're right. But damn, first the scandal, then retirements, then coaches resigning, and a team disbanding sure is bad news.
That Fomos reporter better say something like Savior is back in bonjwa status or something lol =/

Yea of course. How many times has there been no sponsor for a league and then everything is fine? I'm confident there will be more seasons.

I was like what. Then i looked at my closed BW tab and was like "Oh..." Im sorry but i truly believe its foolish to hope now
At least it ended well...i guess

And how many of these times there has actually been progamers switching to another game? Yes, BW won't die *just yet* but... it's not much more that Blizzard needs to pull off in order to finally kill its own game...

remember BW's patch that made or broke the game?????

Nada and JulyZerg are heroes to Korean gamers. Their jump may cause young potential progamers to stop playing BW and move on to SC2. How many players do you think will be drafted onto BW teams next year?

Not only young potential progammers but also other B-teamers who really have nothing to lose by switching. Many A-B progammers dont even enjoy starcraft anymore

Just as many people applied to join a proteam. Just that very few people were actually drafted since "it's kinda uncertain" at this point.
If KeSPA - Gretech work something out, there'll be a lot more drafts.

Remember one season when oov, kingdom, jju, chojja, garimto etc all retired? This is nothing compared to that edit: thread: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=68379 fun to see some of the names drafted in that article... action, mvp, perfectman, and many more.

This is just depressing, but I'll enjoy every last minute of bw e-sports before it inevitably falls apart.
|
I hope you're right. I am starting to ge t pretty nervous reading through BW news these days.
|
I dont see how one (of the worst) of prolegue teams possibly disbanding and a few oldschool stars (who doesnt even play the much often) going to SC2 matters much, now upcoming lawsuit between Kespa/Gretech might be a lot worse, but I dont think that is too much of a deal.
|
I really hope you are right and the BW community keeps going strong for years to come. I may be one of many that joined TL because of SC2, and I want to see SC2 succeed as an esport, but that doesnt mean I want BW to die. Even though I am bad a broodwar and I dont completely understand whats going on (see im bad) I still enjoy watching it and would be sad if it died
|
5/5 A lot of people are acting as if its the end of the world - its only the end when it finally ends... Until then, there is hope.
|
Nobody I know plays BW anymore, and I teach middle school kids in Korea.

I am so tempted to post that image macro of Obama sitting and chilling with his advisors all around him, with caption "Everyone settle down, I got this." But then I might get permbant
But I do hope that BW doesn't die.

I don't think anyone ever got perma banned just for an image macro? A lot of people got temp banned though.

I just can't help but think how appropriate Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity gig is so appropriate to this thread.
Blizzard is to blame for everything Conspiracy Theorists = teabaggers Diehard BW > SC2 Fans = loud conservatives Diehard SC2 > BW Fans = loud liberals People who love both equally = moderates Milkis = Jon Stewart

All these news in such a short amount of time made me nervous. But I'm still hopeful

Pretty sure the conspiracy theorists tend to be ultra libs. Never landed on the moon, 9/11 etc.
But that link to the other thread made me laugh. Bisu in a purdue shirt is so pimp.

Calm is down but he will rise up and be above average again.
