SC2 Linked to Job Losses

SirJolt the Dagon Knight4010 Posts September 13 2010 18:30 GMT #1 I couldn’t believe it when I first saw the news myself, but looks like StarCraft 2 has had an even more pronounced impact on the economy than had been expected. What’s weird is that this is something that had been foreseen when SC2 was first announced. Still, that doesn’t account for the state of the job market in the wake of SC2. Look at these guys. These were men with a skill, a craft. They were top-notch consultants, hired for a combination of their knowledge and judgement, largely to train progamers. All of the men in the above photograph have one thing in common. They are all now unemployed, their services no longer in demand, dropped from affluence in a world that no longer needed them to a world of poverty. They’re spending their time microing crusts of stale bread around the inside of a soup bowl. Who knows how bad it could get? The worst part is that this will only get worse, as the rise in interest worldwide puts more and more pressure on the professional gaming scene, we’re destined to see the hopes and dreams of a million potential professionals dashed in the attempt to make something of themselves. This is the damage that Blizzard has done.
