What I'd do is attack-move individual vikings in different pattern across the map. Maybe start killing off some of your army to make more vikings and dispatching pockets of forces to all the expansions.
Honestly, since you've seen it now, you'll know where to look in the future.
In BW I play zerg. Oftentimes, especially against mech Terran (though sometimes P and Z), I would take out their bases, but didn't have enough forces to take on their army. The T would then run the slow death ball through my bases and plant supply depots all over the map. The first time it happened I flat-out lost, but it eventually came up again and I managed to take the game. The last time it happened I killed the scv working on it more than once (since they tend to run to the same hard-to-find locations and I got better and creating search parties) and eventually forced him to camp his army around his last structure. I rebuilt and won. The point of all this is that now that you're experienced it you should know a better plan of attack (unless you've learned nothing from the experience).
Though, it never hurts to say "Manner, please" and hope your opponent isn't a douche...

It took you over 40 minutes to kill his floating buildings lol?
|
it takes you 40 minutes + a tl thread to figure out how to close floating buildings???? jesus.... just look everywhere with air, it's not that hard...

It wasn't just floating buildings, it was generally just buildings (supply depots etc) in random areas all over the map, plus floating buildings.
I get it guys, maybe I'm not the greatest Starcraft 2 player and maybe I could have finished him quicker. Maybe that's why I wrote this post? Saying the same "it took you that long lol?" over and over is neither constructive nor original.
Thanks to all who had constructive responses.

OK.
Just remember to build a lot of air units, and scan over the map using waypoints. It's pretty simple.
I'd also build a turrent over all the expansions to make sure he is not getting any income. Once you are sure that he is not getting any more money, the rest is pretty much a matter of time.

It's because there's nothing to say here really. You don't need people to tell you to just create units, send them all over the map and find all the stuff. You know that. You already did that. It would be different if you asked about a specific strategy, or an issue with a certain point of your gameplay, etc.

Yeah, actually what I asked was: 1. Is there anything else I could have done other than (insert all the stuff I did) 2. How do other races who don't have scan/sensor towers deal with this (just scouting?)
I know from reading forum posts that others have had this happen. I'm even pretty sure I read a post the other day by a diamond player who had an hour long game like that, but I couldn't find the post.

set up vikings/banshee spaced at the bottom of the map so their LOS is just touching, patrol them to the top of the map=sweeping fullmap scan permanently
Every time you clear an expo build a Ebay on it...

Yeah it's not a huge deal, I wasn't in a rush He kept saying "I can't afford to lose". I kept saying "but you're going to lose". What was funny was that the only thing I said to him was "GL" at the beginning, and then "come on man" after about 20 mins. He said he was prolonging it because "I was being a dick" :-/
i think you found combat-ex on sc2
+ Show Spoiler +just kidding
