like Black Magic. you ask questions to someone who knows the clue and the other people try to get the clue or 'rule'. Rule for Black Magic is that the thing you're talking about has to be the color black.
"can this tv be used in black magic?" yes "can obama be used in black magic?" yes "can a giraffe be used in black magic?" no
another one is the picnic game. you ask whether you can bring something to the picnic. the rule is, it has to have double letters.
"can I bring strawbeRRies to the picnic?" yes "can I bring eGGs to the picnic?" yes "can I bring chocolate to the picnic?" no People play this for fun? If some dude started just randomly telling me I'm allowed to have eggs at my picnic, but not chocolate or bananas or whatever the hell else they'll say, I'd probably just walk away. And check for my wallet.

Exactly. Misdirection.

Is this another one in a series of weird Asian games? And can someone please finally explain what this open/close thing is about?

We used to do some bullshit game like this, where if you coughed before you asked it was true, otherwise false or some bullshit like that. See if he's coughing...

The only similar game I know comes from Monkey Island 2. To prove you are part of this secret club you need to answer questions correctly three times in a row. The questions are all
If this is X... (holds up a certain amount of fingers from one hand) What is this (holds up a different amount of fingers from one hand)
Your only clues is when he tells you whether you were right or wrong. Since you need to guess it 3 times in a row, you need to figure out the pattern from the few that you accidentally guess right.
The answer is kinda silly :D
+ Show Spoiler +The number of fingers he's actually holding up when he says "If this is 4 (or whatever)..." is the answer.

aha noooooooo not one of theeeese T.T
I remember a game where we used materials from other people and we would create pictures and whatever structures we could get from each others belongings. The person that is creating the structure would then ask
"Now who is this?" and they would imitate another person sitting at the table so the point is to keep looking at the person making the object instead of the object being made. aha
fuck these games

This is probably it. I've played a ton of these games and this is how they usually go.

If someone tried to play this game with me I would just stare at them until they went away.

Most likely has nothing to do with the hands. I've played a bunch of games like this and im guessing the hands are probably just a distraction and the open or close is probably referring to something else like his mouth being open or closed.

+ Show Spoiler + I think he's trying to tell you "your kungfu is weak".
I've played the black magic one. Icebreakers always felt dumb at the moment, but if they help people relax and have fun, whatever.
