INTRODUCTION
Unarmed Combat has always been one of my favorite aspects of fantasy style RPGs. Throughout Neverwinter Nights/expansions and Neverwinter Nights 2/Expansions, Playing as a monk and ripping into the enemies with my bare hands was one of the highlights of my playing experience.
Unfortunately, in the current combat system of Dragon Age, fighting unarmed is highly discouraged. Each voiceset has a specific complaint whenever you try to fight without a weapon, and even the in-game hint states that you should never enter combat with a weapon.
This lack of a viable unarmed combat option has always bothered me as I played Dragon Age. So, I modded the game itself to make unarmed combat a viable alternative!
The semantics of pure unarmed combat is buried in the many core scripts, and editing the combat script itself would cause so much trouble wit compatibility. So, I have taken the opposite approach. This also makes sure that only you, the hero, has access to the unarmed combat mastery, and other enemies who try to fight you unarmed are still stuck in the regular ineffective combat.
FEATURES
1. Viable unarmed combat! Your rigorous training allows you to hit ~6 times a second with your bare hands, up to 10 times a second with Haste! Just think of the possibilities of this with poisons/buffs like rally etc.
2. Your mastery of the natural forces allow you to channel the chi energy with every hit to destroy the enemy's very soul! Every hit:
-Interrupts spellcasting
-has a chance to Knockback
-has a chance to Stun
-has a chance to Paralyze
-has a chance to Slow movement speed
3. Your preternatural awareness allows you to see the weaknesses in even the thickest, most powerful armors. Every unarmed hit penetrates any and all armor the enemy wears.
4. Damage scales with both STR and DEX! 0.25 damage per point in each. (50 DEX/50 STR will give you about 90 DPS, before any other additions)
5. Innovative Toggle system! You can go back, if you wish, to regular combat simply by equipping the items in your inventory.
6.Separation of armed/unarmed combat - the attack speed/hit effects do not carry over if you change your mind and try to fight with a weapon. Same goes with a shield. However, the defense will still stack.
7. Training Exclusivity - Only you/your party can become a martial arts master. Any other enemy/NPC that tries to fight unarmed will only go through the regular ineffective unarmed attack, not the altered attack.
I recommend the use of rogue with this unarmed combat. You can add poisons, and backstab damage will stack with each hit.
Although you can still fight like this with a mage, your damage will not scale at all.
You can't use any of the weapon talents with this style of combat.
