Anyway, I've got about 4-5 ladder games under my belt now, and it's tough when you have no idea what you're doing at 600 diamond, but I just managed my first win! It was a super epic game too, I went 14 pool 16 hatch and he two gated me on lost temple, managed to save my hatchery with only about 20 hp left and come back in the macro game. Sort of proud of that game, I'll attach it to the bottom of this post!
alright, *small TvZ vs ZvT rant:
*small is relative
I've played three terrans on ladder out of my 5-6 games, and then I played a few custom games with one of those guys afterwards. I've been mass reapered, played against bio with tanks, and played against full mech. First impressions, it is fucking hard from the zerg perspective. I'd still argue that it's a hell of a lot harder to play mech than most zergs give us credit for, and it's partially because I'm new at it... but straight up, T is just fucking scary. They have a ton of options, and it's hard to prepare for everything when you're trying to deal with the most complicated macro mechanics in the first place, and you have to get your timings straight up perfect through the whole early and mid game just to not die to a push. Not to mention, you have to be worried about 7 other things the T could possibly be doing at any given moment that could instantly cost you the game, that you still might not scout after sac'ing multiple ovies and lings. Overseer helps but idk, zerg just needs a little extra "something" in early game. But I'd rather not start a balance discussion. Tbh, I actually like playing vs T even if I do get my ass handed to me. It's probably the most fun I've had playing SC2 actually, I like being challenged. 3 raxing vs P every game wasn't exactly super challenging, yet I could still win 75% of those games.
Anyway, it really is amazing how Blizzard has managed to create three different races that are so distinct in so many ways, and yet keep it incredibly well balanced. (No, the game is not broken, in fact it's in a FAR better state than most games upon release, especially with the amount of depth in this game).
So I've done a lot of thinking regarding my future with Starcraft, obviously. What I've decided is I'm going to be pursuing this game competitively, and at least try to win a tournament or two if not take it further. So I'll be starting up a stream if there's enough interest since I can stream on ultra no problems. It'll be like, a chronicle of my rise to power or something.
tl;dr My experience in trying out another race, and some of my thoughts regarding Starcraft 2. Also testing stream interest.
