Well, this morning I decided to play a little SC2 and was somewhat astonished by what diamond league has become at a Terran stand point. Anyways this isnt one of those stupid imbalance threads/blogs, but i got placed with terran 5 times in a row, and cheesed 4/5 times.

What ever happened to a nice respectful game. I miss the old iCCup servers, because all these new people have no respect and are only cheating themselves just for a league win.

Some might say that "ohh you shoulda scouted it and you would win thats 4 free wins" regardless its not about win or lose, i play starcraft for fun, and expect a legit match/at least into mid game.

Anyways the ladder system in messed up, diamond is to easy to get into, and im pretty mad bro atm.

Have a nice day fellow teamliquidians.

I've only gotten cheesed once out of ~40 games and it was by a zerg on Steppes of War (7pool on an obvious rush map...... fail). Dunno, feels more like luck of the draw so far.

lololol have you ever played in iccup? haha BW player elitism shows up again. i remember the good old days of BBSing to get ranked, always preparing for 4 pool, 10/15 gate Longinus A- gg, etc etc.

Agreed, I despised playing on Desti (<-- terran player) because every freakin protoss would proxy gate rush, or like Heartbreak Ridge (whee protoss shenanigans). SC2 feels like a cakewalk compared to that, hahah.

Idk...i like it when people try cheesing me. It's pretty easy to defend as a terran and is usually an easy win.
A wall beats any kind of tier 1 rush, lifting off makes cannon rushes absolutely useless, and scanning beats everything else =p

it was really fun to proxy gate on HR :D

I remember I saw a progamer doing that (Bisu maybe? So long I dont remember) and I thought "OMFG gotta try that!"

did that in a lot of pvp and pvt :D

I play terran and I lose a lot to protoss cheese. I am a 500 point diamond player btw.

I don't get cheesed much on ICCUP. Maybe that's because I play Z/P, and we don't count every possible aggressive build as cheese.
My strategy is to fork people.

I prefer getting cheesed on SC2 rather than in BW. In BW, the opponent never says anything. They just cheese, and if they lose, they gg or just leave.

In SC2, players scream "Terran's so OP!" or "I hate mirrors! This is like the 5th mirror in a row!" right from the get-go and you just know they're going to cheese.

I actually encountered cheese from the last 3 zergs I've played and last 2 protoss. I have yet to... wait, tinfoil hat... I have yet to be cheesed by terrans.

I lost 1 of those 5 cheese games due to proxy 2 gate and I, like an idiot, dropped a 3rd gate to defend but didn't have the econ to run it.

Cheese doesn't really bother me from a "Omfg, I lost again" standpoint, but it really bothers me that I actually went 5 games in a row (yes, all 5 of those were back to back games) without a single normal game. It's so much more satisfying to play straight up and win or lose in a good game.

I would like to chalk it up to all the new guys playing SC2, but I've heard so many stories of people 4 pooling their way to A-, etc...

I think you just need to play more games. 5 games is hardly statistically relevant. I play diamond and I'm actually surprised that I don't get cheesed more. Almost every Terran I play does a strait up 1/1/1 and I hardly get reaper / hellion / banshee cheesed.

Cheese is a legit part of the game.
When I played bw I got to A-. At a high level it's incredible the amount of cheese you lpay against, zergs 3 hach all-in zergling like it's going out of style, protoss proxy gateways in your base like you owe him money, and this is all before mentioning the proxy barracks with all your scvs with enough money for a bunker, from terran(morrow).
Wishing you well.

I recently was asked in a custom game to be a practice partner. Why not? Oh my .. fucking.. god... he proxy the first game, and I am like look buddy, you wanna practice or...? I can deal with this shit outside of custom games but not in them.

2nd game, bunker rush tvt... 3rd game, attempted reaper proxy... Why the fuck even ask someone to practice if you are just going to do that :| You can't 'practice' cheese on one person either, so I don't know what the fuck he was doing; just being an asshole more or less.

Edit: just want to clarify, I don't disagree with cheesing. In fact, the higher the level the harder it is to do, so really cheesing becomes a very skilled art, per say. But practicing proxy in custom games? psssh, weak man, weak.

Your average terran player doesn't understand what "normal play" is. They have no concept of anything, I'm at 750 points diamond right now and every T I face 1 bases until 80 food and pushes me. There's no concept of timing, there's no concept of scouting, or economy. it's just mass infantry and push, because it works for them. There's no thought process.

So it doesn't surprise me asking a random player to "practice" with you results in them doing something they may even consider standard play.

I have only been cheesed by toss so far (proxies, dt blocking ramp lol), and even then, those games were fairly rare. I didn't get cheesed top often in bw either, except by my friends. You're probably just unlucky.
What do you call a tennis player who tosses the ball inhumanly well? A protoss!
