The WCG Prelims kick off with KT
Flash and Leta. Flash and Leta have both been quite impressive in their respected OSL groups, both players having gone 2-0. However, they are playing against one another in a BO3 and game 1 is set on Polaris Rhapsody.FlaSh spawns as teal in the bottom right while Leta spawns in the top left as yellow. Immediately, the builds branch off as Flash goes for a 14CC, after observers point out the lack of an early gas for Flash, while leta goes for the normal gas before rax. Leta sends out an scv scout, only to get denied as flash's second marines pops out rite as leta's scv goes up the ramp. So leta, playing blind, throws up two ports in hoping to do some heavy econ harass. Flash get up his factory as he takes his natural and as soon as his fact finishes, flash throws up 2 ports AS WELL! however, leta got up the two ports finished as flash got his ports up and building. so leta is ahead, but flash has the econ advantage. flash, also playing blind, throws up an academy but leta has not. flash played brilliantly, throwing up the ports in two separate locations, so while leta was hovering his wraiths over one port, the other port sent wraiths undetected.
Leta, finally seeing Flash's hand, also throws up his academy, but Flash is already building his armory for goliaths. Leta's cloaked wraiths do some hunting in flash's natural and main. Flash is severely behind in wraith count, and after a brief engagement, is all down to but one wraith. Leta still has cloaked wraiths killing Flash's SCV's and has about 10 killed, so flash's early expansion was a waste, and leta already has his natural up too. Flash then pushes out with a small army, knowing that Leta has nothing but wraiths. Leta quickly responds by getting 3 tanks with siege to defend his walled natural and forces flash back. things look bad for our reigning msl champ, and leta is transitioning into more tanks and is getting up his 4th fact while flash still get up his 2nd.
The game goes on for a stalemate for some time, until Leta feels its time to begin pushing out. Flash quickly snipes off 2 reinforcing wraiths and quickly engages with leta's wraith army. at the end, their wraith numbers are evening out with superb micro from flash and takes the double gas at the bottom left. Leta takes the 9 oclock and takes the top right double gas. flash sets up a position near the 9, but leta does a neat pincer attack and takes that out. flash is now behind in army and bases. leta takes the inside mineral only while flash takes the 6. flash flies his wraiths into leta's but leta forgets to scan until all of his wraiths are dead. flash then flies his wraiths to leta's unprotected natural and snipes a dropship (nothing loaded) and picks off some scvs. Flash now has the air superiority which leta lost from the beginning. he also take his 3 oclock base while leta gets the valk. to counter the wraiths. now the observers think this is amazing, but i think that flash can easily take it out with one shot from his wraiths. now the game goes to it's boring tvt stand off on both sides of polaris rhapsody. as soon as i say that, flash gets a physics lab and that could only mean one thing... BATTLECRUISERS!!! but this might not be a great idea considering that leta has 5 valks out and flash will need those wraiths as backup. flash proceeds to get more starports as leta moves across the map with a small army and reveals his valks. leta then begins getting bcs of his own while flash get 4 more ports to bring him to about 8. leta gets 4 more ports too to get him 6 in total. flash has his first 2 bcs out when leta begins pushing out to the 3oclock. flash now has a good fleet of bcs that get scanned by leta. leta tried to inch past to the 3 with some tanks, but flash takes that army out, but loses 2 bcs. flash moves in to try and kill a bc of leta with his remaining wraiths, but leta d-matrix's it just in time before it gets taken out.
Flash then decides to move out with a couple tanks and his massive fleet of bcs. leta engages wit his own bcs but flash had them out first and thus had more. flash also got off the yamatos first and decimated leta's fleet. leta goes for a poor counter on flash's 3oclock, but flash easily pushes it back with a new fleet of bcs. leta realizing that flash had too many bcs, GGed.
Post Game: Leta had the opening advantage and needed to keep that by harassing more. he allowed flash to pick up 3 new bases which allowed him to get those bcs out. leta responded to slowly and lost.
