T_T hurts like fuck. I got two (right side) removed today.
I can barely eat any food because of the pain.
Hopefully, the pain will go away soon...

Take some meds!

Nothing can be as bad as my wisdom teeth operation experience. One of the highlights was when the dentist dropped one of them down my throat and I proceeded to fucking choke on it ^_^ No lie.

Yeah I remember chewing on all that gauze and having to change it so often. It was a lot too cuz I had all four of them taken out at once

Just make sure you follow all the precautions and don't drink with straws etc. I heard it's an even bigger bitch if your gums don't heal properly

I had all four taken out at once. Didn't feel nothing. The pain varies from person to person though. GL and HF with those meds.

It isn't that bad. I didn't even have to take the pain meds. The only thing that bothered me was the consistent bleeding. I hate blood.

The pain wasn't bad for me, but letting them put me under was a mistake. The drugs they use on you to put you to sleep make you nauseous all day. Couldn't eat even though I wasn't too sore, I just threw everything up.

Also bad is how sore your jaw is afterwards from being wrenched open. That's the main problem imo, not the actual teeth pulling.

Did you got a full or a partial anaesthesia when they were removed?

Enjoy your soups / stew for the next few days.

And the threads messing in the back of your mouth for several weeks (unless they are the kind taken off and not the one that are digested).

At least when this is over, it's for good!

Wont be going away for a while. Make sure you dont pick at your stitches. I picked at mine and I get a sharp pain when anything comes into contact with the area.

Pain will be gone before you know it

Painkillers. Seriously.

I didn't bleed like an open faucet after the operation though, the gauze they had me bite on after the operation didn't have that much blood on it so the surgeon told me that I wouldn't have to worry about waking up and finding my pillow with blood marks on them.

And your cheek will swell like fuck for about 4 days then it will subside, the cuteness factor tends to increase though.

Mmmm I'm supposed to get mine pulled asap says my dentist, but I won't even be able to afford it till like next year lol.

I'm dreading it, just one more person telling me it's painful =/

Get some painkillers! My friend was drugged up on them for a couple days and said it made it much better.

As tempting as it is, you're not supposed to do this btw. The smoke can get in your blood and holes in your mouth and apparently is really unhealthy.

It might be painful and annoying now but just think of the even worse pain you are avoiding later in life when they cause problems. Some people have to have them out and some don't (I don't yay). If your dentist recommends it then I'd say having them taken out is a damn good idea.

One of my friends ignored the advice and ended up losing more than just his wisdom teeth. The operation also cost him a shitload more than it would have to just have them pulled before they caused problems.

I had a pretty painfree experience.

Took all 4 out at once under general anaesthesia. I then proceeded to sleep 40 out of the next 48 hours, so by the time I was actually fully concious, I had no pain or annoyances except for a giant blood spot on my pillow.

Starcraft 2 is a perfectly good painkiller. Ice cream is also nice. And make sure you clean out your holes regularly, or food will stay lodged in them and your breath will smell terrible.

I had mine removed a few months ago. Fortunately, I had percocets which made the experience a lot easier. The entire experience wasn't as bad for me as everyone made it out to be. Got tired of having to eat soup, ice cream, and pudding all the time.

man i've heard so many stories about wisdom teeth. i can't know what you're growing through since i've never had any problems with mine, and i doubt they'll be taken out, since they've grown well and there hasn't been any discomfort or pain.

Wow, those of you who got all four out of once are fucking ballers. I got two of them out 1 at a time when I was 15. Hurts like shit, and there is soooo much blood

And for some reason, every time I swallowed my throat would hurt really bad. Did anyone else get that? That was what really pissed me off.

yeah, and if you fuck up bad enough you can cut your stitches...

uhm, am I the only one in here that didn't have blood marks on his pillow the first few nights after the operation?

Very bad advice on day 1/2.

Take your vics and go to sleep.

Smoking can lead to irritation and even dry socket similiar to how a straw would.

Edit: However if you made some nice soft brownies I'm sure you could put those down :D

It sucks. Had four of mine out at once a year back, and it just sucked.

Pain wasn't too bad. You have them meds for that. The only issue was that food kept getting clogged in the holes in back when you tried to eat stuff and it was a nuisance. Also, quickly got tired of ice cream after that. Soup and pudding too. Guarantee you won't wanna eat any of those for at least a couple months after that.

HA! You all had it easy.

I had them all out at once (a few weeks after my fifteenth birthday, ah memories), and then THEY ALL GOT DRY SOCKET.

I had pain for four months, and even at the end of four months some days I would wake up with one of the sockets completely swollen with blood.

Honestly, the pain killers dont do shit.

What actually DOES work, is the anti-inflammatory meds.

The first day wasnt bad for me, but the 2nd-3rd or 4th were the WORST. I woke up the 2nd day like OMFG, my whole jaw, and side of my face up to my temples, was pounding, and couldnt get back to sleep.

What I didnt realize, was it was because the anti inflammatory drugs wore off. I took the painkillers and the antibiotics immediately, and didnt take the inflam's because I was like "Screw it I dont think it's from that". But later on when I took them, a few mins later it went away instantly. I took them as scheduled, even took 1 extra on the 2nd day becuase they only seemed to last for 5 hours and it only perscribed 3 a day. By the time I was out of them (a weeks worth), the pain was completely gone w/o the meds.

So make sure you take the inflams on a perfect schedule, hell even if they wear off an hour early, take em again, you wont need them after those few days where the swelling is at its worst. They work better than the pain killers even, because nausea is common with them, especially when you dont have any solid foods in your stomach. The last thing you want is to be nauseous, or even vomit, when you had your teeth out.

It sounds like a lot of the people here either didnt get the anti inflam's, or didnt take them. BIG MISTAKE! They seriously get rid of the pain.

As long as you take the anti-inflam's, the pain isnt the worst part, its not bad at all. having to stick to liquid foods and jello is lol.

For anyone who is scared to get theirs out, just make sure you request anti inflammatory meds if you dont get perscribed them. They seriously do wonders.

I got all 4 removed at once, and two of them had to be crushed inside my jaw. Oh and they were still deep inside the gums so the doc had to cut the open with a scalpel. No pain whatsoever and only swelling for 2 days. After reading some of the responses i feel lucky :D

i had all 4 removed at once. At the first night the knitting did open. I awoke with warm clotted blood all over my face and pillar. It took me like 1 min to realise that my bed is full of blood, then i was in panic and checked my body for holes ^^. then in the bathroom i looked in da mirror and i really looked like headshotted anyways the doc fixed it within 10 min at 7am saturday morning after that it was pretty nice due to painkillers (take the night ones at day and the other way around xD ).

Make camomile tea. Fill into Ice-cube plastic thingy. Wait till frozen . ??? . Profit.

I had all 4 of mine taken out at once last year or so. It wasn't that that bad as long as you can focus on something else like sitting in bed and watching movies =D.

Oh, I also requested to have one of the teeth removed whole(some dentists chip them into fragments first) now I have one of my wisdom teeth as a necklace =3.

I wish I had gotten mine taken out when I had insurance.

Haven't been to the dentist in about two years, and he said I should probably have them taken out soon. Forgot what term he used for which way they were growing in, but I remember I looked it up when I got home, and Wikipedia said they weren't the easiest to remove.

Another one of my wisdom teeth highlights was when I could hear the crunching of the dentish pulling them out. They were growing in horizontally so that made for extra fun ^_^

I had asked my dentist prior if I was gonna be put under for the operation and him and the dental hygienist laughed at me like I was crazy I just had my gums numbed

I had one taken out recently because it had a deformity. I had a curved root. When the tooth was taken out it looked as if it were a sabre-tooth tiger's. The dentist took forever to take it out. The pain was excruciating for a few days.

The swelling usually lasts 7-10 days. It sucks. You should keep taking your antibiotics and take pain relievers whenever you need it.

I just got all 4 of mine out three days ago and I look like a chipmunk. There's random blood clots clumped near the outside of my sockets, and I can't tell if clots are forming like they're supposed to inside the holes. I hope I don't get dry socket

I only had 3. Had them removed all at the same time. Was eating steak the same night. As my cousin said, "That's what the painkillers are for." Had to chew really, really slowly because I couldn't use my molars.

smoke up, pain will fade, or at least diminish =D

As tempting as it is, you're not supposed to do this btw. The smoke can get in your blood and holes in your mouth and apparently is really unhealthy.

not quite, but you shouldn't smoke. It's called dry socket. holes wont heal right. dont be dumb. it hurts.
