Don't risk your future on something as flaky as progaming, especially in the foreign scene where it is so rare. You sound dedicated, inspired, and are clearly a hardworker, but you absolutely must ensure that you have something else in your life to fall back on (school, another career path/interest, etc). It's great that you want to try this, but you should be intelligent enough to realize that making a living off of SC2 within the next year is, at best, a highly impractical future. Good luck! | ||

I really don't think there's gonna be any money in SC2 except tournament winnings for at least a year or so. You'll be lucky if a sponsor pays your airfare to go to a live tournament. | ||

Go in looking to play as well as you possibly can, and then accept anything that comes with that. If you are no longer accepting what comes with playing at the highest level you can, then that's when you stop! Don't chase the paper because you will be devestated anytime you fail to place in a tournament and have to wait another 6 months and save money for travel to get the next closest tourny. | ||

Im currently making much less, and am not working at a Michelin rated restaurant. Not too long ago I traveled to Costa Rica and stayed in a monastery practicing martial arts and enhancing my knowledge of meditation- I even have a few students once a week now. Although, I have studied service, food and wine my entire working life and have always been passionate about it. Just to give you a taste I will point out that some well oiled restaurants are using a better understanding of psychology, and social dynamics, to enhance their service while letting go of archaic or meaningless traditions and replacing them with service ideas that actually enhance the experience. I could go on and on...but this is a SC2 blog =) PM me and I would be happy to recommend some books or even some restaurants in teh states for you to enjoy. @Chef Sound advice- I do appreciate it, and my intentions are not to become wealthy by playing starcraft 2 (is that even possible?) but to play it at the highest level that my mind and body will allow me because I love it. @ Divinek I agree, hopefully Ill be in the 10 thousand post range soon :D TL is a great hub for SC lovers. I do hope to see a little more passion and dedication in the people that truly want to play professionally. | ||

Anyone else that would be willing to create a daily training schedule and stick to it- send me a PM with your info. My SC2 schedule: Mon 10am-bedtime Tue 10am-bedtime Wed 10am-5pm // 12-3am Thu 10am-bedtime Fri 10am-5pm //12-3am Sat 10am-5pm //12-3am Sun 10am-5pm //12-3am These are all times that I am playing. Clearly, we can set a more defined schedule for training specific builds, maps, micro etc. | ||

@ Kurtisthe Turtle You are absolutely right, and I will have to do this for myself and the love of the game. I dont think of it as a dream, though- rather a goal- that has steps to completing. Frankly guys, its not impossible to become great at SC2. Im pretty sure the main limiting factor of skill development in SC2 is lack of mentally engaged practice and play. I know a lot of these haters play a lot and are probably not even thinking about mouse control and keyboard precision, or tightening their build orders to perfection- they may not even know every hotkey for their race. Who knows! These are the "less than optimal" diamond players Ill be crushing :D | ||
