so i have a buddy who hasn't ever seen star wars. naturally i was shocked and quickly made sure he saw all 6 episodes. he quickly became a fan, and so we were talking about jar jar binks the other day. i LOVE jar jar binks - hes made me howl with laughter since i first saw episode one as a kid. but my friend hates him cuz he thinks hes a total retard (lol). but we both agree that C3P0 is an annoying pussy that just talks too much.
this made me want to ask the star wars fans on TL these two simple questions: who is your favorite star wars character, and who is your least favorite character?

I was forced to leave a lot of good candidates out (Padme, the Fetts, Qui Gon etc....), but the polls only allow for 12 entries. So please don't hate me if I left ur favorite character out - just use the other button and specify with ur post

O, and feel free to justify why you love/hate the characters you chose

Thanks guys

Least favorite: Jar Jar Binks

Favorite: Boba Fett

Ever since I first saw Star Wars as a kid, Boba Fett was my favorite. But in recent times, I like Emperor Palpatine a lot too, so he is a close 2nd, maybe even tied with Boba Fett.

Least favorite is Chewbacca

He does not have any dialogue and his actions are not funny from a comic point of view. Also, he uses a crossbow, not as flashy as the lightsabers. I don't hate him but he does not stand out compared to the other characters from an action point of view or relating to the plot.

Fave: Yoda

Badass yet funny in terms of speech!

What do you mean Chewie not having dialogues? You don't understand Shyriiwook which is different.
Plus, I like this theory:

C3PO is no pussy, he has the golden rod.

Having a hard time deciding favourites between Yoda (especially his dueling skills), The Fetts (self explanatory), Admiral Ackbar (LOL), General Grevious (minus his anticlimactic death), Mace Windu (purple lightsabers are beyond pro), and Plo Koon (so badass).

Surprised its only 53% for Jar Jar,
My fave would be a toss up between the Palpatine (moreso in ep 6) and Grievous

As for favourite, Hayden Christenson. C'monn. Who cares if the newest 3 movies weren't as good? <3_<3

Yoda is the best character but this only includes episodes 4-6 since he was pretty rubish in 1-3.

I was just wondering this. If anyone can clarify for me: Why is there so much hate for the prequels of Star Wars? Personally, I find the CGI to be pretty sweet even to this day and the first 3 episodes are what really hooks me into the SW universe, with Anakin becoming Vader and how he takes on that path, etc. I've seen some people say that it's due to the bad acting, people grew up with the last 3 episodes, etc. but those don't seem to be enough reasons to bash on such a huge franchise. T_T" I suppose I'm one of the blind consumers of modern markets who takes in all the flashy pew pew stuff.

for me, i grew up on episode IV/V/VI... the "feel" set by these movies are attached to good family memories/childhood idolization, so they just hold a very special spot in my heart and mind .

yes, the first three are superior technology wise for sure. But story wise, IV/V/VI are more captivating and well made in my opinion. Its been years since I saw episodes I/II all the way through until I had to show my friend, and the perspective difference between a middle schooler and a college student gave me a more mature view of the series. There were definitely a few moments that I really didn't like in Episode I (such as the fate of Naboo and the treaty with the Gungans being based on sucking up to Boss Nass's overblown ego....it really seemed like the scriptwriters ran out of ideas here or something....). And episode II - the plot was a bit convoluted with a little too much going on at once. There were definitely poignant moments in the movie, especially the scene with the long-awaited reunion of Anakin and Shimi. Episode III was by far my favorite of the pre-original batch - the plot was better structured, in my opinion, than the first two.

Also, the general atmosphere/feel set by I-III (which is partly because of the cinematic technology) is different from the atmosphere/feel set by IV-VI. Some prefer one over the other, some may like both. I prefer the IV-VI feel over the I-III feel.

I would have raged if jar jar binks was not the "least favorite character". The TL community couldn't have been that dumb. I'm glad. And I also agree that han solo is one of the best characters in star wars, he's such a badass.

The prequel trilogy in general was a piece of shit. Episode 4,5,6 were the best.

Oh and btw you guys need to see redlettermedia videos on youtube. Here's part 1 to his review of Episode I..this guy hits the nail on the head every second. SO FUNNY

I just liked the nifty fight scenes. But nothing felt epic like how the original trilogy did.

Did they eve announce when theyre doing the last three?

Yeah to vote for best/worst you really do have to divide the originals from the prequels. Not the same thing. Esp. Obiwan and C3PO.

wtf are you serious? Mace Windu played by Samuel Lackluster Jackson?

Han Solo is of course not only one of the greatest movie characters EVER, I also like Harrison Fords interpretation of this independent, ruthless yet lovable womanizer.

Yeah, for me too. I watched IV/V/VI so many times when i was a child/teenager and they never got boring.

Hm i like Star Wars II the most of the second trilogy. I like all this detective work Obi Wan does and the water planet where the Clone army is made + Coruscant are also pretty fun to watch (not another sandy Tatooine set, meh)

Still, they all suck compared to IV/V/VI. Characters like the chosen one, overly gifted, not knowing what lies ahead of him and who gets involved in things much more important than him (Luke), the independent, grumpy, good looking womanizer who chooses the right side. The impersonation of malice, killing people with some evil force (lol), dressed all in black, face hiding behind a mask (Vader). The obscure Lord of the evil forces, intelligent, ruthless whose plans are inscrutable (Emperor). The pretty, young princess. Brave and proud, who falls in love with the anti hero. (Leia)
Plus a story like a good book with twists, battles, character development........................ and some awesome locations (endor, death star).

The original trilogy is just something that afaik no one has accomplished until today. Story, characters, special effects, general setting, acting are all so creative and well done, it's amazing. I-III have flaws in many many ways. Darth Maul was the only character I thought was really fresh and cool. Everything else was not bad, but it wasn't great either. And then you have some CGI shit like Jar Jar Bings in it, wtf

So yeah, IV-VI are very well done and will entertain people even in 100 years i guess. I-II are just good SciFi movies playing in the same universe

I managed to watch the episodes in storytime order, 1-2-3-4-5-6. Also, it means the Episode III trailer pissed me off for giving away the fucking ending.

Favorite Character: Pre-Vader Anakin Skywalker.

I didn't grow up with Luke and Alec Guiness, I grew up with Anakin and Ewan McGregor, and even to this day I can't live down the fact and produce like 500 scenarios where Palpatine's plot is foiled before Anakin turns. I just have to say, I've heard about how all 3 prequels are being bashed because Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman are too wooden, but I kinda like the feel, and it doesn't detract from the story. Also, clones = good in my mind.

Ep 1-3 Tatooine looks more friendly and less alone than Ep 4 Tatooine
Lightsaber Battles look more active
Jedi ftw
More better-looking planets

And when it comes to Star Wars, I prefer open scale battles to running away and hiding.

At any rate, he had 27700 midichlorians per cell, and the final Episode III lightsaber duel was the most badass of them all. The music helps too.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSwy412nttI&feature=related

Look at him showing his midichlorians

Least favorite: Palpatine. I mean, jesus, he betrayed everyone in the lore, Vader (multiple times), Maul, Marek, Dooku, the entire Galactic Republic, etc.

Mmmh it's kinda hard to say who's my favourite. Especially after reading some books. I really like Darth Maul, but Obi Wan's cool too. Aesthetically I like the Twi'lek most^^

Least favourite on the other hand is just too easy. Jar Jar sucks ass.

Although jar jar is the most annoying, he is a minor character, while anakin on the other hand single handedly turned Vader into a pussy emo. Everything about anakin, especially his character development, made no sense and was just stupid.

Just watch this 7 part series.
