All the posts in here confirm it. whoa, life guarding is the SICKEST first job you can have! other than the fact that you have to do rescues every now and then (which shouldn't be a problem if you follow procedure, and are mostly avoidable), its awesome (depending on whether your city employed, imo). depending on the shift (in mississauga), you may only have to work 20 minutes out of an hour, and the rest is sitting in an office. the pay here is spectacular, 14.50 for a guard, and if you work daytime, it's near 18 bucks an hour. and this depends on the place, but the staff where I work is awesome. plus it looks pretty respectable on a resume. definitely not a shit job if you do it right. even teaching swimming lessons isn't too bad... Where the hell do you lifeguard for 18 bucks an hour? :O
city of Mississauga ftw! part of why we're awesome. this is one of the few cities in Canada with no debt and tons of dough saved up. and it's all thanks to our all mighty leader, Hazel McCallion, mayer for over 30 years, now 89. She's been hit by a truck (the truck needed repairs after) and she's still kicking. She even knows Regis (she was on Regis and Kelly and has met him a bunch of times). I swear everyone is in love with her. My dad even has bobbleheads and a mississauga monopoly board with her on it that he had her sign. ALL HAIL HAZEL!!!
i'm guessing the surplus is why we get paid so well

my mom always had this hangup about drowning.
i always hear her tell people with kids, "you must be so so careful, because you don't realise, its so QUIET. you won't hear a thing."
Guess she knew her shit.

Hmm... I was pushed off a roof once and into a thornbush. Have a faded scar on my left arm from that.
Closest thing I have water-related is snorkling and jackass-the-staffman decided it was cool to throw bread at me while I was trying to get out of water (from being sick) and ended up swallowing sea water and getting seasick on the way back.

when I was little I dragged my brother out of the pool just beyond the steps. Lifeguard & parents and everybody sitting right there, not noticing a thing. kind of affected me how blind everybody was, never realized this was why they didn't notice

A toddler is a young child who has just learned to walk. Because they are new to walking, they walk funny and fall over lots
