Just need to make sure I don't get in this situation again in the future. Exactly. I've lost hundreds of dollars to a sleazy company and I couldn't do a damn thing about it. Everyone has gone through bullshit like this at some point or another. You've just gotta move on and remember the positives: 1. At least this mistake cost you only $50. People (e.g. myself) often get screwed for a lot more. 2. Now you've learned not to trust what random people or companies say. That's very useful. In the future, you can make sure anything you're promised is promised in clear, non-vague writing. You can also try asking your friends about a company or try Googling them before trusting them: it's not a guarantee that you won't get screwed, but it is a LOT easier than trying to decipher a legal document. 3. You can warn other people about this shady business, like you've done with this topic. Others can learn from your experience, too. People in your area can stay away from that company, and people in general can be more careful with employment companies in general.

The agency found you a job. Work five hours and pay it off.

I don't know, I guess I feel a little old fashioned, but everyone these days really is in a rush to prove they're the best they can be NOW. They need a new car now, a high-paying job now. I don't think there's anything wrong with working fast food or labour throughout university

it is 5 days a week, 8 hours I'm pretty sure McDonalds and cashiers earn minimum wage (10.25) too but no heavy lifting factory work involved. The only reason I was super pissed a few hours ago was because they didn't go back on their promise that if I would get my deposit back if I didn't go and hanging up in my face when I mention it. Also the whole time I was polite and apologetic that I wasted their time but since the day I went to their office, they always give you that "we are helping you, I am better than you" attitude.

OK my bad for expecting better, I had friends who went to agencies before who got jobs as waitresses and stuff. No need to criticize me. I'm not even mad anymore. Just let this blog die everybody if u find a waiter job from a temp agency, it probably pays less than the factory and is a pretty horrible job anyway. have u ever worked in food service? there r so many horror stories.
