It's like a movie of a very, very cruel documentary that they decide in the end must be destroyed. yea i've seen it it's actually kind of a stupid movie, but yea those animal killings were real as far as wiki goes. There are more than a few movies that have shit like this (most of them are low budget and bad movies) but this is not the kind of thing I am looking for with this thread. | ||

There is this crazy danish movie where a retired soldier and some hitmen goes on happy hunting in the region of Serbia/Kosovo/Bosnia, + Show Spoiler + you know there was ethnical civil war there. Its all organised by themselves. So they come in with a helicopter, make touchdown in an abonded area, and travel silently through the forest in a mountainous region. They come to a small village undetected, they stay hidden in the forest, + Show Spoiler + sets up their sniper rifles gear and starts shooting small children, woman and men. Soon they are detected and a big manhunt is on.The scene were they starts killing innocents are pretty disturbing . | ||

The Road is prolly one of the best novels I've ever read. It's so dark, strange and incredible sad. But yeah, the ending would probably seem a bit strange in a movie-format. | ||

That is what the Road is about. His wife(her role is played up in the movie a bit) kills herself. The boy and the man decide to keep fighting. The only people left are cannibals and scavengers. The sun doesn't come out anymore. All plants are dead or dying. Few to no animals are left. The dad is dying of a sickness. And yet the man and the boy keep trying to survive. A vivid story about human spirit and the love of a man and his son. There was never going to be a fairy tale ending. I thought the scene in the cellar is the most messed up situation I've ever seen or read. I felt the scene with the black man was a reversion to the eye for an eye sense of justice that is likely to exist after an apocalypse. McCarthy has an extremely rich and deep writing style. Every word is carefully chosen and packed full of allusions and deeper meanings. He is one of the most through provoking authors ever. If you like a post apocalyptic setting with a more positive twist, I highly highly highly suggest The Earth Abides. It was written in 1949, but is still amazing. Basically a plague wipes out 99.9% of people and the story follows this guy trying to rebuild civilization. A fantastic read. Can't recommend this enough. | ||
