Seriously? Any of you guys using widescreen monitors with HDMI, can you play BW fullscreen without any problems at all (half of the HUD doesnt appear to me)?
My specs: GeForce 8200 Monitor Samsung 20" LCD TV Monitor 10000:0 Aspect Ratio 16: 9
Edit: I forgot to let the VGA part off the title

You need to change that aspect ratio setting in your nvidia driver, forgot which one it was. Something about when going to non native resolutions, that you want black bars instead of it stretching over your entire display.
Btw 16: 9 is not a resolution, it's an aspect ratio.

I play brood war fullscreen with no black bars, and no problems at all. I've used both VGA and DVI, but not HDMI

Ok, edited to aspect ratio
Yeah, thats what I've been trying to do, but as you see in the picture, nVidia control panel doesnt let me do because my 'current signal', which is HDMI.

What are you trying to connect ? another monitor to your computer?
I've had no problems with HDMI to connect laptop to tv, stacraft worked fine. Just had to switch on the display from windows mobility center.

No, its just the monitor that I use.

Alright under the NVIDIA Control Panel, under the display tab, go to the "Adjust Desktop Size and Position", click "Use NVIDIA scaling with fixed-aspect ratio." This will launch SC:BW in 800x600 res (and give you the black bars.)
Hope this helps?

Sometimes you can change the aspect ratio in your integrated monitor menu too. Widescreen/Auto.

It seems that Nvidia is configured to show no black bars, so it'll crop the top and the bottom of the screen. Somewhere in the drivers settings you can change the way your card will scale.
Look here: Nvidia Control Panel > Adjust desktop size and resolution
Personally, it never worked on my notebook with a GeForce 7800Go, so good luck there. Oh, doesn't your monitor has a 4:3 mode? I have a LG monitor and use it all the time.

It seems like if you use a HDMI cable, you need to configure the aspect ratio settings on your TV.

well, I appreciate your help guys, but nothing works. I've tried your tip T.O.P, it indeed let me configure the aspect ratio to 4:3 but a good portion of the left side is cropped out in-game, just like it did when it was 16: 9. Whats interesting is that it only crops off when i'm in game, or in the bnet chat rooms, its really weird....
if there was only some magical patch to fix the game to widescreen monitors

wow!!! I've found a way to fix it!! i'm gonna share here, in case someone else ends up in the same situation i was in.
I found the solution in this link: http://ntsc-uk.domino.org/showthread.php?t=99054
Apparently renaming this input 'PC' or 'DVI PC' disables all the post processing and puts it into some kind of PC mode. Maybe that willl help.
Seems like if you are using HDMI cable in your samsung monitor, you have to go to the monitor menu (OSD) and rename the Input HDMI to PC or DVI PC. I did rename it to DVI PC and got this working just fine. Ingame you can change the aspect ratio to 4:3 using the OSD so you get the black bars, or you can leave it 16: 9 so the screen stretches.
gg!!!
