I need help with internet options in general.
Im on gf's laptop.
In past she used dial up connection which stayed and bored the shit out of us. If you open IE (rest of the browsers did not have a problem) and try to open lets say facebook it pop's up and asks for connect. Normal routine is to close the little window and go on with browsing.
So being a happy nerd i just deleted the connection thinking it will solve the problem. But then i lost internet connection. Reseted computer and gain a few sited i could open up (tl.net being one of them yay)
Note that i connect to internet trough cable modem pluged into lan.
Google, yt.com , fb are still unaccessable even pinging google results in fail :/ Help out =(

Cable modem pluged into lan? What is that?
Also, are you sure the sites still work aren't cached?

Its cable net. Coax (dont know how to name it in english) cable goes into external modem. Laptop and modem are connected to lan cable.
About cached sited? What does that mean?

spery: could you please open an elevated command prompt?
start -> run -> cmd for windows XP
and type cmd in the search box for windows vista and windows 7. Right click cmd and choose "run as administrator"
Then type the following commands EXACTLY ipconfig /all > C:\ipconfig.txt route print >> C:\ipconfig.txt
and post the contents of C:\ipconfig.txt here on TL?

First I highly recommend that you turn windows firewall back on immediately if you have it disabled and install all the latest security updates for windows.
Hold on while I look through what you posted
|
May want to star out your IP address or something.
|
sperY: I'm sorry that I made you reveal your ip address - I didn't realize you were connected directly to the modem. I recommend that you try the commands
ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew
in an elevated command promt, to see if your ip address changes, and configure security updates and enable firewall.
While I try to figure out what all the extra interfaces you have mean, could you try the following commands in a command prompt:
ping 208.67.222.222 (do you get timeout or response?) nslookup (a new prompt opens) server 208.67.222.222 teamliquid.net google.com msn.com exit (I'm interested if it finds an ip address for those websites)
then can you try (for isolation purposes) to download firefox or google chrome to see if they are able to connect?

This can all just be an ISP problem... I'm not seeing anything wrong with your ipconfig. You might want to call your ISP and explain to them what the problem is.
Edit: You might want to get a router after what you posted also...I think a lot of people saw all your information. Router = more control over your internet also.

pinged tl.net/msn/also those addresses. still cant ping google.com :/ Im curently on chrome. Cant download firefox. Wont open last link

Dont know if its ISP problem. Google and facebook worked before i deleted that connection.
How much harm can be done when one know's others ip?
What can i do without getting a router?

If you call your ISP and explain to them your problem, they can reset your connection, get you a new ip address, etc. You access the internet through your ISP...everything goes through them first. If they are having problems with their servers or whatnot, that might be causing the problem.
There are some devious people out there that can do some crazy stuff with just an ip address...especially your physical ip address that you just released. I'm not a computer gosu so I wouldn't know exactly what might happen.

sperY do those websites work? Can you try the procedure
nslookup server 208.67.222.222 <domain name>
for a website that does not work? If you receive an ip-address, can you try entering that ip directly in your browser?

If your firewall is not configured correctly, and there is a security issue with software on your computer, an attacker could potentially take over your computer. The issue is not so much that you revealed your IP here but that you are connected directly to the internet - without a router in between. This is not recommended practice for a windows computer.
If you wish to hide your ip from teamliquid.net (and remain vulnerable to "random" attacks), you could try the procedure I desribed above
ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew
But really recommended practice is to get a router between your windows computer and the internet. Please make sure that your firewall is configured correctly and that you have installed all the latest security updates from microsoft.

This doesnt make sense.. What kind of modem plugs into lan? You mean "lan port" or router into switch or something? I smell dns server issues.. Change it to google or opendns..

I don't think OP has a router. I think he only uses a modem connected directly to the computer. Don't most ISP's provide you with a router these days? o.o
