I put a few unmastered tracks up on myspace would appreciate some opinions!

Nothing overly negative though, if you want to criticise me please be constructive if it isn't your style of music then just move on.

Thanks I've been doing songwriting for about 2 years I guess, but only recently have I been serious and putting together full tracks.

I find your music quite interesting. I really like Dream. One thing I'd like to mention. I found the vocals on The Music of My Mind a little difficult to make out. Mainly at the beginning, it seemed very quiet. Maybe it could use a little volume boost, but I'm not even sure.

Not exactly my cup of tea, but I've found it refreshing. I like Dream most, I think.

Keep up the good work

Thanks very much for the info :D really appreciate comments like yours. It's a goldmine to have other ppl listen to things for me because it's hard for me to notice these things. I don't have the skills of the other guy who regularly posts music on here so I need some extra help

Really nice harmonies, I'd work on having the music swing more though. Listen to old school jungle and the metalhaedz stuff, you'll learn a lot more on how to handle that bpm range than you would from pendulum. Love the vocals.

edit: last track is the best, nice vocals, good song writing (though i'm pretty sure it's a cover).

lol I assure you it's not a cover. Can you pm me some tracks? I rly don't know anything about drum and bass as you could probably tell though I know this girl who said she would 'authenticize' that track for me.

I love 'The Music of My Mind', especially the first 3:50. Just sounds really melodic and flowing if that makes sense. Later in the song it gets a little too outgoing for my tastes, but awesome stuff man. Book-marked it so I can listen to it more.
Nothing to it but to do it.

Content wise is was great, but the quality was a bit thin, most of the low ends all all three peices where pretty ghost like, aside from the last peice. (sounds like a real kit on that one?)

But, I don't know what kind of set up you are working with, or if it was all midi/samples or a mix of analog in their too (aside from the vocals) and I am not trying to knock it

I just feel bad for anyone that has Pendulum as where their jungle experience starts/ends.

Thanks for the input man, it makes sense because I mixed everything on my headphones and that's not what professionals use. My headphones also have obscene amounts of bass . I can deal with all of those problems . I'm a songwriter not producer as you can tell!

Reaaaaally appreciate everyone making comments and listening thank you, TL can always be trusted.

PS thanks ianianian!

Really enjoyed it so far; good work man. The production stuff will come in time; it's great in some places but some of the drum stuff can be a little muddy- similarly your low end is not that well defined; sub bass can often help this but whether or not that's appropriate can depend on style. I love the harmony in When the Dawn Comes but the vocalizer/autotune kind of ruined it for me- if you had just sung all those lines straight up / brought in another vocalist to do it for you it could be really lovely. I take it you're a lover of Bach chorales?

Yea, that is a great way of messing up your mix! Even a 100$ pair of monitors would be fathoms better than your headphones. (your DnB/jungle piece was pretty much void of any dynamics, probably due to that : x )

And remember that with digital recording, the dither from the analog stuff is lost, so even the biggest studios run the entire mix through analog tap machines and out board compressors. Since you are not a huge studio I'd also look into a small reel to reel machine, (you run the mix into the machine then the output into your cd burner) and just this one step would fatten up the mix by leaps and bounds.

Yes :D. Thanks for the input man, you're spot on. I will be getting singers to do it , it was meant to be a guide anyway just sounded kind of passable as it was . Same goes for 'The Music...' but it's quite hard to find the right singer you know even in my music college.

Hey well let me throw this round. Seeing as so many ppl are coming up with such good points...(especially those great pieces of advice Belgo)

Would any producers out there be interested in working with me?! Or maybe just taking a look at some of my music and adding their expertise. For full mention and maybe some pay

Heh yeah. Where do you study? I'm first year BMus at Queen's in Belfast and I'm having trouble finding a viola player for a string quartet piece I'm working on. :p

Here's a link to a DnB track I've been working on lately just so you know what sort of stuff I'm into.

Wow, just listening to the first track on there and I really really like it. Sort of imogen heap feel to it along with a few hints of others that I can't quite put my finger on yet, but it's really good.

edit: I want the MP3s
if I come without a thing, then I come with all I need @tonightsend
