We don't get a chance to play much anymore, since we mostly play console games and all our consoles are at home with my brother (I'm attending college half a continent away). The one computer game we do play with each other is Starcraft, partly because we love it and partly because it costs little/nothing to buy an extra copy/download it off ICCup. We've spent a ton of time over the years not even just playing the game, but making cool or funny maps and talking about the single player story mode. It's getting a little tougher lately because I'm not as into videogames anymore as I used to be except for Starcraft, but videogames remain our main subject of bonding. We're preordering a copy of Starcraft 2 today, so we should have one key shortly. This is awesome, but honestly the main reason I would want to play beta would be to play with my brother. If we just have the one, I'm going to tell him to put it on his computer since I'm still in love with Brood War. I don't know if we'll be able to play the actual game with each other much when it comes out, since $60 is pretty expensive and finances are tight when I'm the first of four siblings that need to go through college and my Dad had to take early retirement a couple years ago, but if we could play the beta together that would be so awesome I can't even tell you. Am I more deserving than anyone else? This isn't a sob story or anything, I'm not a starving kid in Africa. I'm also not some ICCup pro or anything, and I'm not sure what besides that could make one person more "deserving" than another. I just want to be able to at least play SC2 with my brother in beta, and if you think that's a worthy enough motive, I would be very grateful. | ||

I've been entering contests day in and day out trying to get a key but have had no luck. I don't really have any hardcore sc friends either, so don't really have any connections to get a friend invite from  I like giving to the community and even tried to run a contest for TL. Unfortunately it looks like the beta coming out kind of killed it's interest. Hopefully you can find it in your heart to give me a beta key | ||

so i won't repeat what they were saying. I played SC and WC3 competetive a long time. I'm pissed because Blizz doesn't opt-in extra people but instead invites the old ones friends. Not that its a bad thing, but i think those others should've been given a chance too. Also since i play competetive, i'm angry about the headstart for other players, i have much to learn and much to master, and i need to play. Regardless of who the key will be given too, thanks for contributing to the community, you shall never be forgotten. | ||

Steve i talked to Kurt and he said hes not too interested in getting a key, same idea as me hed rather wait for the game, so im giving them to people who do want them/will put them to good use. I havent seen hyuga or adam at all lately and i dont have their contact info >_<. If you do can you ask them for me if they need a key still? As for the rest of you, I want to give them away to people who #1 will help give good feedback and make sc2 a worthy sequel to bw - this means you need to be good at bw in the first place. #2 I want to give keys to people who are unable to get them otherwise - this means people from countries that have no preorder option. Also, the more time/better use you put these keys too matters as well, so people with lots of friends sharing it are a plus. I know there were several of each of these types of posters, if you are one, post again to be clear which you are and why you stand out from the others in your situation. Ok so to narrow it down, please post again if you want a beta key to be able to give feedback to blizzard, and give me your max iccup rank or whatever you think will convince me that you actually know how bw works. The person with the most bw knowledge will get one. Please also post again if you are from a preorderless country and have friends who also desperately want to play beta, the person with the most combined activity time will get one. | ||

I have played starcraft for years on end now as most of the other people on this site however, I have not contributed particularly much to the community in the form of posting or giving advice. I guess that was cause enough to disqualify me right there, but I want to take a different angle on it. I have been lurking in the shadows of a lot of threads and consequently been surprised at the shear number of posters who reply by: 1) Start out by saying they haven't taken time to watch whatever replay you posted and then continue to ramble about whatever. 2) Repeat what others say at lenght. 3) Rage about something someone else said. So I guess the point I am trying to make is that I know when I am either disqualified for giving advice, I take care to read through the post of interest to see if someone has already said what I had to contribute with and I always keep my tone civil (this last one I guess you will just have to take my word for as I don't post much on TL). In short, I know when to shut up and, consequently I don't say much. Therefore I deserve that beta-key. | ||

.Started playing Starcraft in 1997 using dial-up modem. I had to kill the sound with a pillow, to not wake my parents up . I played for like 3-5 hours each day, raking the internet-bill up to be quite large. But as time went by, I got quite good at the game. At some point, I was probably one of the top 15 players in Norway. Now, I will admit that my Starcraft time has been dwindling the past years, mostly because I got alittle bored of it. But I still watch VODs and live korean shows on streams.But, I still LOVE the game, and I follow Blizzards progress like a fucking shadow. Now, why should you give me the key? Well, I am a person that can easily play the game for 3-4 hours straight, just to see what works and what doesn't. I love to learn, explore and try new stuff. So basically - I play alot, I get better. This is my first time in a RTS beta(If I get the key), but I've been in the WoW beta, and I delivered feedback all the time. Just because I got annoyed by bugs or something that would seem OP/fucked up. Anyway, post getting too long. I hope you read, and hit me up with an answer soon! <3 | ||

My gf's completely the opposite. She wasn't so good at bw, and I'm sure she'll be in copper league or perhaps the bronze league..but I'm sure she will give interesting feedbacks b/c she complains at things that she don't like. Whenever I play sc2, she thinks it's awesome and loves the new graphics. She wants to play it herself as well. | ||

 Anyhow, I have spent enough time on bw that my studies were probably hanging in the balance from time to time. That in itself does not really qualify me as I never took it anywhere. Only recently(1½ years ago) with the arrival of english commentaries have I developed an interest for game mechanics and the intricacies of 1on1. I'm not sure how far I have progressed as a protoss player but I have an apm of 200 in 3v3 and 160 in 1on1. The MU I understand the best is probably pvt. I understand it enough that I can get an idea about whether to go FE, 2 gate nex, 1 gate robo or go for a timing attack such as a bulldog rush or similar based on scouting information. Oh and I am good enough to understand that my unit control (especially reaver and shuttle) could use a bit of polishing. Besides of that I guess I can just say that I really love Starcraft Broodwar and I would hate to see Starcraft 2 fail. As for possibilities of getting a Beta-key with a pre-order I think that is still possible here in Denmark. I have no idea yet though, as I haven't researched it and I don't really have the financial room to make a preorder right now. | ||

I can't say that i am a good Starcraft 1 player, since i played more Warcraft 3 (Level 34, not the best but not the worst one also) and i have a large understanding of RTS Games, since i played most of the recent ones, some of them even competetive (Dawn of War, Red Alert 3, Warcraft 3 for example) I participated in the Dawn of War Beta as well as Red Alert 3 Beta (some others too, but they arent nearly as RTS as i wish they would be) and i am able to provide feedbacks, lead discussions to where they should be. Also i would be active in the official blizzard forums, but they require a beta key sadly.. I don't agree with the mainstream and i try to use creativity to maximize the utility of whats given, playing vs the cpu though, isn't helpful and can't be used in discussions or whatsoever. Thats why i need a beta key, i want to improve the game AND myself, while playing and testing, i dont even mind if you activate it on your account and let me play on it, to "test" me if thats what im writing is true. To the Preorder thingy, let me explain: I preordered my SC2 in February @ our local gamestop store. I won't cancel the preorder because i already payed 5 euros for it, sadly they wont give out any beta keys. Thats why i post again. I hope you do understand what i'm trying to tell ya, since im not a native english speaker. Greetings, and regardless of who gets the key, thanks for the contribution to the community | ||
