Yep. Actually, I was born and raised in Suriname (a tiny little country in South America, former Dutch colony), but both of my parents are 100% German, they're not Dutch. We spoke German at home growing up.

It's OK to cut down on fats and excessive carbs (sweets), but what's wrong with meat?
I always thought that meat with vegetables is the best diet possible.

"No XYZ" diets never work. In my opinion, it's stupid to even attempt such a thing.

Simply buy less of it and/or replace your normal consumption of it with something else.

carbs are energy. if you do not use it then you will get fat... FAT is inactivity incarnate.

I've been on a ketogenic diet (0 carbohydrates) for the last 3 months and let me tell you it does work. I wasn't fat before, i wasn't even chubby, i was like 175lb (80kg) when i started, now i've lost between 10 and 12 kg of fat (20-24lb). carbohydrates are used by our bodies as our primary energy source, and you can stuff your face with them as much as you like but if you eat more than you burn in a day, it's turned to fat. you should by no means cut out red meat, this is a great protein source and your body needs it. in addition to that, meat is filling and will reduce the amount of carbohydrates you actually eat. if you stop eating carbohydrates or reduce the amount, your water retention decreases and you'll lose weight but it will be water. rice, potatoes, brown bread, wheat and such are low GI carbs, which means your body digests them slowly and that means the energy release is gradual, which means in term that your body has a supply of energy for a few hours after eating but also that you have a much greater chance of burning the energy than if you ate the same amount of carbohydrates in a high GI form, like sugar which is digested very rapidly and spikes your energy then converts to fat. you don't have to cut down on carbs if you're getting fat, you just need to cut down on overall calories and balance out your diet more.

I can tell you this will kill you quicker than carbs. I am by no means an expert, but after a chapter in my Human Bio H. class, Let me tell you, this fucking destroys kidneys with toxic keytones, and a lot of weight loss you may have is body water. I have to go to school now, if this thread's still around I'll explain myself a little bit...
but really, has anyone REALLY been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

the keytones that are produced aren't toxic and the diet is safe. the only long term health loss is the loss of a balanced diet. yes, I am fully aware that you lose water when you go on a 0 carbohydrate diet, and seem to have lost approximately 3-4kg of it, the fat loss I cited is taking into account that fact. a lot of people are scared of ketosis and ketogenic diets in general but really have no idea about the facts.

edit: also, if this were true that it kills you, none of us would be alive today as a lot our ancestors lived in ketosis because there was no source of carbohydrates around.

http://www.brianpeskin.com/reports/Ketosis.pdf this seems like a good scientific read

edit edit: this website offers some great insight, but is really wrong about the ketosis thing. it is quite easy to get into actually and ketosis strips do show this.. not sure where the facts for that came from.

You sir are crazy. No meat? Every meal I have has to have meat or it doesn't feel like an actual meal (mainly because I don't get full).

There are alternate sources of fat and protein (nuts, cheese, eggs) though I tend to agree they're less delicious than meat.

well he just said 'no red meat' so he can still eat chicken and fish (both very good sources of protein)
also nuts and eggs are superb food, they're packed with vitamins and minerals

If you do sports/exercise w h y would you not eat food high on carbs? Maybe try transfats or something instead. Try cutting only icecream, you can cut down on noodles, but dont completely leave it out.

Wait... you're not getting fat, you like eating, and you're gonna stop eating?

Why? What adverse health effects do you feel? (Besides the recent SC2 disease that has been making players quit SC1)

I haven't eaten red meat in 1 and 1/2 years.

I don't eat any pork either unless I go to a world famous barbeque place in my hometown, which I realize is self serving, but I'm okay with that because not eating pork anywhere else is enough to make me feel better about myself/ my beliefs.

I'm trying right now to intake minimal caffeine, which includes chocolate. I'll only eat chocolate if my girlfriend and I order a dessert with it. I''ve also been soda free for 2 weeks.

Until I write you again, take care of your precious person.

I feel no adverse health effects aside from me not having a 6 pack or something (lol). Again, it's not really for health reasons, but more just to see if I can actually do it !

It's like having a really hot girl naked in front of me and training my penis not to have sex with her. I'm single. Why wouldn't I want to? The point is just some kind of mental training really, no other particular reason.

"generally cut down on carbs" is a bad goal because it's very vague.

I always thought that meat with vegetables is the best diet possible.
Meat is fine, it's red meat that most people are usually advised to avoid since it has a shitload of saturated fat (it's recommended that if you eat red meat, that you only eat a portion the size of a deck of playing cards once a day, but many people eat more than that just for lunch). Eating a good amount of chicken and fish is perfectly fine though.

Also, you don't really "need" carbs in your body, but replacing them with complex carbs (brown rice instead of white rice, whole wheat bread instead of white bread, cutting out sugar, etc.) would probably show more benefits than just cutting them out almost completely.

Edit: and Xeris, that's a really bad analogy if you want to get us to understand why you're doing this
