I'm very tired tonight, a few days of working till 3' in the morning has me knackered. Anyway, hope you like the list!

1. Andrew Bird - Armchair Apocrypha
What? Folk rock
When? 2007
Why? A really nice indie folk album. Makes me think of old film soundtracks for some reason.
Show me! + Show Spoiler +

2. Dizzee Rascal - Boy in da Corner
What? Hip hop
When? 2004
Why? A great mix of grime and hip hop. If only his new albums compared...
Show me! + Show Spoiler +

3. Brazilian Girls - Talk to la Bomb
What? Electro / Jazz / Dance
When? 2005
Why? I have no idea what genre this is. Every song seems to be an album on its own.
Show me! + Show Spoiler +

4. Arch Enemy - Burning Bridges
What? Melodic death metal
When? 1999
Why? Nice raw melodic death. Not a bad track on this album.
Show me! + Show Spoiler +

5. Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles
What? Electronic
When? 2008
Why? Probably the album I listened to most in 2009. A stunning combination of sounds.

Thanks for all the recommendations and feedback. I really enjoy discussing the music! Let me know what you guys think of todays choices.

Disclaimer: The title says that it is Daigomi's guide to good listening. That means its my opinion. Feel free to disagree as long as you provide reasons; I enjoy a good discussion as much as the next person. Also, I just like listening to music, I don't give a shit for the political implications of any music.

+ Show Spoiler [E-Cookie winners to date] +
Day 4 - Eti307 - Wale sampling Yann Tiersen
Day 8 - - Name a song that samples Rodriguez's Sugar Man.
Day 9 - - Which arcade game's music is sampled in Percee P's 2 Brothers From The Gutter?
Day 14 - ZZangDreamjOy - Cake's Long Skirt/Short Jacket as Chuck's theme song.
Day 17 - ZZangDreamjOy - Max Cavalera in Ill Bill's War is my Destiny.

Haha, yesterday I decided I'll add Crystal Castles and Arch Enemy today, and then you preempt me by suggesting Crystal Castles! And I have listened to The XX, they're awesome, I'll add them once I've listened to them a few more times.

I really enjoy these blogs. I'm always a tad skeptical when someone first posts a "good music" blog, but I really wish these would get more love. Thanks for putting in the effort to make these.

Great suggestions! I saw Crystal Castles at Monster Massive 09. Aside from it being overly crowded, I enjoyed their set.

Here's a funky chiptune track from Trash80. If you want to check out more, you can download his music from his site: http://trash80.net/

Crystal Castles are a real earache to me though. Anyway, I recommend some fun indie stuff!

I'm liking it, usually i've heard 2 of them albums and then there will be genres I'm afraid of.

@andrew bird album- have you heard the new owen pallett? Same idea Its practically all I listen to, it is so pretty and magical, like from the old times.

Also I'm curious what the opinion on the new gorillaz is, I for one am loving it.

The thing is, his new albums aren't bad in my opinion, they've just lost what I really like about them, that very strong British grime feel. Lyrically, I think he's still quite good actually, but the music just isn't as powerful as it used to be.

I haven't got the new album by The Knife, so I'll definitely have to get it. Also, I love chiptune, thanks for the recommendation!

No problem! I know exactly what you mean, I was very worried about putting the word "good" in the title, as I know how I react when I see something like that. On the other hand, I specifically called it "good listening" instead of "good music" as I wanted the emphasis to be on music that is enjoyable to listen to, rather than music that is "objectively good" somehow. Still, I'm glad I could convince you to bear with the title!

I watched Crystal Castles at Glastonbury on TV, and it was interesting. Not sure if I would go watch them live too often, but I'll definitely get their new album. Also, more chiptune!

Haha, Crystal Castles's genre (glitch) can be a bit harsh on the ears, but I specifically like them because they're quite melodic for the genre. Still, I know what you're talking about, many artists in glitch make me feel like that. Also, thanks for the recommendation, will give it a listen!

Never heard of Owen Pallett, but if it's like Andrew Bird I'll give it a try. I have all the AB albums :p

I haven't listened to the new Gorillaz yet, but I've read a lot of reviews. There seems to be a very big divide in the community, some love it, others hate it. If I had to guess, I would say I'll love it though, I've loved everything that Damon Albarn has touched to date, and if some people can see the good in that album then I assume I'll do the same Still, I've gotten the album in the last few days, and I've just not had the time to listen to it. I should rectify that asap.
