OKAY so I've been exploring the Jpop thread and the anime thread because I've been craving that style of music, like intro theme songs for anime, real poppy kind of stuff.
The thing is that I have really weird OCD when it comes to music. This is the same problem I had with Kpop when I first got into. But GTR was there for me in my time of need.
MY INTERESTS:
1) I really like shallow music. like music you don't admit you like. For kpop, it's all the girly stuff: snsd, kara, tara, rainbow (yes i know stfu), etc.
2) I need ALBUMS
this is where i usually run into trouble. i've NEVER been a big fan of downloading individual songs. they have a tendency to get overplayed and it clogs up my media player.
SO
I could really use some suggestions for albums from artists that meet my criteria. I've been searching for like a week now and I haven't really gotten anywhere since the Jpop thread isn't discussed much, i feel like a noob in the anime thread, and i need albums :/

anyway btw the one person i found that i like was Mizuki Nana, which is pretty much only becuase of Kawaii's sig/stream so if that helps...

Wait, do you need a place to get albums? You could always just go to a jpop tracker (I can link you one if you need one), check out popular artists, search them up on youtube to see if you like their songs, and dl them if you do.

The only girl group I know that's anything like the kpop ones is Morning Musume. All their stuff is very similar no need to pick a particular album.

Ah crap. The one I use (Jpopsuki - I think it's the largest Jpop tracker actually) has turned private, and invites have been closed for my user class at the moment. -_-

Watch anime and listen to their ops is the best way to get into it quickly. Then go for doujin music once you are ready. Btw, kind of obvious but the best way to dl stuff is right after their release. Most noticable dates are those following the winter and summer comkit. I get up to 2 mbps speed lol.

For manufactured girl pop, go for Morning Musume, Berryz Koubou, C-ute (these 3 are from the same company), or AKB48.

Yeah dude there's some songs that suck but Hishoku no Sora and Masterpiece and Joint are the shit bro, already overplayed Mizuki Nana songs too many times that it got boring  haven't been able to find new ones

I listen to Mizuki Nana on occasion, though I'm not too big a fan of that kind of frilly and bubbly music. Try out OLIVIA, maybe? She has a decent album out that was written for the NANA anime, but that's alternative rock. Her other stuff is a bit weirder, almost avante garde in some cases.

Oh, oh I just remembered...if you want the ultimate in sheer dumb, shallow music, check out Hirano Aya's solo album.

It requires registration but hands down I have not found a better source of Japanese music DLs, period. A lot of the stuff that leaks out before release date shows up there first. Of course, if you can't read moonrunes then just go to Wikipedia and find the song title names in Japanese and copy+paste into search bar =P Oh and most of the download links are for passworded .rars, you find the password in the same post as the DL link.
