hey guys, so I need some advice. I want to buy a new (preferably wireless) keyboard and mouse, but I dont want to spend too much money on it. Could you please give some advice on some dependable products that arent too overpriced? im not looking for anything like the razer mouses that are specifically for gaming and cost like hundreds of $, just something dependable that will last a while

as for wireless cant really help you there, but i love my new razor salmosa. if you like the logitech mini optical, its basically a little bigger, better version of that for basically the same price. got mine about $25 shipped off amazon i think.

IMO, dont get wireless, but do go cheap. No point in spending an extra 100 dollars for a cool-looking keyboard/mouse when something cheap works just as well.

Most progamers use qsenn keyboards, but that is most likely just because it's a Korean company. They are pretty inexpensive compared to other high quality keyboards, so if I were to buy another keyboard it would probably be that. Mice it's generally pretty much up to the person. I hear lots of good reviews on razor mice. Most of them look badass too MX518 is too big for SC imo. I bought one last year to replace my intellimouse 3.0. God I loved that thing, but I went through 3 of them. Their mouse feet would fall off constantly too -.-

you will get what you pay for...invest some money in your mouse at least..it will pay for itself.

Alright, i think im going for the razer salmosa as my mouse cant find asian edition, so getting the non asian edition, is that a big difference?

Man, I've used a Logitech G5 mouse for years and I love it. As for keyboard, I've never really had any issues with using a cheap ass $15 keyboard as long as the keys feel alright.

Would any of you recommend the logitech wave keyboard?
does the form look like it'd be comfortable for playing sc? I really dont know...

I got logitech mini and DT-35 keyboard, works like hell

I use the Sidewinder keyboard, I would recommend it (not wireless though). The numpad even attaches/detaches to either end. Pretty useless for me but I love the look of it. The whole thing lights up and has a very Darth Vader theme.
For mice, I am still trying to find my perfect mouse. Been through 4 different ones in the last 6 months lol, still not satisfied with any one. Journey continues.

Salmosa is great unless you happen to get one that makes those ugly noises. For the price an awesome mouse.
I don't think that the LMO is a good choice anymore with SC2 on the way. You most likely aren't going to play SC2 @ 640x480, and the LMO has such low dpi that it isn't very useful for higher resolutions. At least I personally wouldn't use my LMO for anything higher than 640x480.

I have a razer lycosa keyboard and really like it. It's somewhat expensive for such a simple keyboard but I like it very much. Keys are just soft enough and it looks cool too.
The other keyboards I was looking at during the time of my purchase were the saiteks. The older models are around 40 with the newer ones reaching about 70 or so. Saitek Keyboards Model is decent and overall keyboard layout is simple.
As for mice looking for a cheap razer seems like the way to go. Salmosa is pretty cheap and decent.
maybe look around woot.com for any special deals they have. Past deal sold salmosa at 14 bucks!

I hear you man, it's ridiculous to be spending so much on things that offer no real additional benefit.
I mean, this is what I used to use
but really that was just wasteful fancy. There's no reason anyone should use anything but this:
Sure, it doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but it gets the job done (eventually).

The Razor Diamondback is really nice and surprisingly cheap

I'm in the market for a new keyboard as well, but my needs are slightly different. I currently have a fully functionally G15 but it doesn't feel right when I play RTSes. I can play anything else fine, but the G15 doesn't feel... responsive enough?
I don't care about macro keys, backlighting, or brand name. I just want want a crisp feeling when I play, that depresses it easily. Guess I'll look at Tasteless' blog.

definitely not, I used this for about a week and had to return it there's a gap between then f3 and f4 key, which is very annoying the keyboard itself is also shaped very oddly which makes it difficult to play sc

Id advise (like most other people) to get a razor salmosa - theyre really cheap for a gaming mouse and dont have any retarded macro buttons and shit that u dont need. A cheap standard keyboard is fine, but id definitely recommend getting the salmosa if you can find a good deal for it.

Does anyone have experience with this Razer Arctosa keyboard? It claims to have "anti-ghosting" which eliminates the problem of certain keystrokes not registering if you hit too many keys at once (a HUGE problem for me in starcraft). Does anyone know if it actually works?
"Selective anti-ghosting capability around WASD gaming cluster " Hmm... Maybe it only works for the left side of the keyboard? Which is still better than nothing.

Also this, some good information about exactly what you should look for in a keyboard/mouse specifically for starcraft.IIf you're going to play StarCraft properly you need to have high dexterity combined with the right equipment. Believe it or not I'm not going to endorse a single "gamer keyboard" that you'd see in the market. In fact all those keyboards are terrible for StarCraft; absolutely terrible. The keys are spaced incorrectly, the buttons depress wrong, and often times the keyboard itself is grossly over-sized. If you ever watch Korean TV or the broadcasts i do at www.gomtv.net you'll see that not a single player uses one of those fancy "gamer" keyboards that i just spoke of. Ok, first go to wherever you normally buy computer equipment. look for the cheapest keyboard, the ones in Korea are usually Qsen but other keyboards also work. What you want is a keyboard that is short on all sides, no lengthy bottom or fancy extra keys on the top. Open the box and close your eyes and press a few keys rapidly in order, you don't want the keys to depress too easily because you need to hear and feel it when you hit one of your hotkeys during the game. You just want a soft clicking sound, not a hard one, whenever you hit any of the buttons; enough so it's audible but not so much that your fingers get tired when you type with it. The keyboard should look something like this: Notice that the shift key on the right is longer than the control key. this is critical if your a Protoss player so make sure the keyboard looks similar to this one before your purchase. if you want you can buy two keyboards, one black and one white, but this isn't entirely necessary. Usually these keyboards run about 10 to 15 USD. Also, make sure this isn't a wireless one.
This is the relevant snippet from the series by Tasteless talking about how best to utilize the keyboard and mouse from a mechanical standpoint.
