So I LOVE getting emails from scammers cause I love to fuck with them. Here's the most recent one:
"I am Mrs. Paula Hamilton. I was married to Late Dr. Edward Hamilton who was based in Malaysia. My Husband died on February 2nd 2007 after a brief illness. I am presently diagnosed of Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML) and recently, my Doctor told me that I may not last for the next Three Months.
Having known my condition, I have decided to entrust my entire estate to a honest individual who will utilize this money in the manner at which the funds are meant for.
Beloved, I choose this means to locate you because I am sure that I will be lead to the kind of person that will be totally honest with me. Due to my health condition, delay in your reply will not be of any benefit to me and this will propel me to search for someone else.
Please assure me that you will act accordingly as I have stated above. In His Arms. Ms. Paula Hamilton."
My quick response:
"Oh goodness, how can I help?"
And hers
"Beloved, I have received your mail and I must first of all show my appreciation over the fact that you have given heed to the entreaty of a dying Family. Only God knows why He has chosen you for this Mission of reaching out to the poor and needy. When I find out the damage this cancer has done to my body, the need to affect the lives of those in need became very paramount. This appears to be a case of mercy after death as I no longer have the strength to do those things I used to do when I was still very full of life. Beloved, in my resolve to actualize my dying wish, I have decided to let go everything that I have especially now that my health has become a sorry tale. I now live at the mercy of various drugs and operations which certainly can not remedy anything. My close Family members are however not happy with the way I have disbursed everything I have to Motherless Children and the poor. They held for themselves the funds I made available to them and went as far as even trying to terminate my life. All relationship with me has been severed and they are of the opinion that the last of my fortune has been spent but incidentally, the sum of US$ 9.2 M is with a Bank in London. This is the last I have and I wish to use these funds to set up a Charity Foundation in your location. Beloved, before we will be able to proceed further, it would be required of you to send me the following information so that I will be able to send an official letter to the Bank to inform them that I have named you the Beneficiary of my funds and that you will be contacting them for the transfer. Your Full Name: Your Contact Address: Your Telephone and Fax numbers: Your Sex: Your Marital Status; Due to my present predicament, my Attorney will help me process a Letter of Authority and a Power of Attorney naming you the Beneficiary of my funds. These Legal Documents that will be issued with your information will also help to facilitate your claims of my funds from the Bank Beloved, I beg of you to deal with me honestly and render me your assistance to the fullest of your capacity. You would be helping a dying Family and most importantly you would be touching the lives of a huge number of people through this Mission. I hope that I will be able to count on you while I wait patiently for the time to come as my bones are slowly cleaving into my skin. I hope to hear from you as soon as possible. In God's Arms, Mrs. Paula Hamilton. "
(bold text added for emphasis )
So, minutes ago I responded with a bevy of fake information. I wouldn't want to get anyone else caught up in this madness.
"Wow, I think it's so great that you're using your last time on this planet to help others. You are truly an inspiration, and I'm happy to help.
Full Name: Julia Andrews Contact Address: 3645 Rue De Bullion, Montreal, Canada Phone Number: 514-496-0317 Sex: F Marital status: Divorced
I don't have a fax, but I hope this is enough to help you!
Regards, Julia."
Julia Andrews being a fake name, 3645 De Bullion being a public park, and 514-495-0317 being a pay phone number.
Hopefully this will be looots of fun.

Meh, I hope it is a throwaway email address. Once a spammer knows that the address is active it can only get spammed even more.
|
This is so boring. You might want to check out the websites for scambaiters to learn how the experts do it.

Didn't read the whole thing, but is this person really offering you, a random stranger, her lifelong savings/fortune??
Wow that's amazing... I find it a little suspicious though

How do you get the ip address from an email?

Don't think it'll be a problem, had to pull it out of my junk folder to begin with. Gmail is pretty good with that.

I was referring to the fact that by reading the entire post (whereas other may have skipped some part of it), I missed my chance to be the first to post in the thread.

I think you would really enjoy 4chan...just don't be a newfag

oh come on It was basically self-irony since my troll was pretty obvious, but only plausible because it says Romania next to my name.
Let's not divert this anymore, shall we
I guess screwing around with the scammer may provide some entertainment, but ultimately you are wasting your time, like that tdot guy

I saw a Chris Hansen Documentary on the Nigerian scamming, its insane how complex they can get, especially when it comes to finding the original scammer,

I'm not willing to prove to spammers that my e-mail is active, but I love that a lot of people are doing this because it really combats this otherwise difficult to deal with problem. Junk filters are only so good.

It's in the header. If you whatever button in your client that shows the email header you hsould be able to see it.
Right now gmail doesn't let you see them though
EDIT Oh wait you can see them. Fun!
