ATM i'm the only one in this apartment who drives. so the 1 spot under the carport for each apartment is mine, but today i decided i didn't want to throw my truck into 4-wheel drive to get over the mound of snow and ice to get into it. so i just parked in the middle of one of the main parking areas( exercise yay!). about 30 minutes later i hear this loud ping and a bang. i had only imagined the carport had collapsed, but didn't care, and went about to my L4D2 zombie smashing action.
what had happened was the carport is at about a 1 degree angle. and it had about 2.5 feet (.85 meters) of snow ontop of it. it's been getting warmer so the snow is melting and moving about 1 inch everyday off the carport. so friday all the weight of the snow was at one half of the awning and it was too heavy for the welds and it collapsed.
the fire department came a little before dusk and had the north side, my side, of the building evacuated.

just got back in about an hour ago.
i stayed with a friend one night, and spent the night with my mom the other night.
i'm glad i'm able to be back in. being without a place to call your own is a really shitty feeling
