ibuprofen and caution
Seriously though, if u gotta use it tonight u just don't have enough time.
Keep the injured area warm/hot while you are bowling.

I had some lower back problems a few years back and a physical therapist gave me a sheet of basic but helpful exercises. I photocopied and uploaded it here: [url blocked] Obviously they won't provide immediate relief, but it might help a little T_T Good luck tonight.

Start working out, I used to have problems with my back, which went away once i hit proper deadlift numbers.

This is my first time having this problem so it might just be a freak thing, but obviously working out does wonders. However, the odds that I'll actually start working out in the near future (this type anyway) is very low =(

This might seem like a big deal to you because you don't use drugs to help with pain but it really isn't that big of a deal... Take advil or some pills for back pain.

i know exactly what youre talking about
always try to warm up or stretch before playing golf/bowl. And if you exercise or work out periodically it definitely does help

actually working out is dangerous for your back, when you don't do it correctly it's just deadly for that purpose, but also when you do it properly, the majority of the most common weight-lifting exercises put additional weight into your back. There are some which doesn't, for example exercises with your back on a bench and with your legs lifted, but for sure they don't help.
Swimming is good for backpain problems, otherwise there are some basic stretching exercises you can do once a day before going to bed to relieve the tension on your back, and some basic rules about how you should keep your body when you sit, walk and do stuff
For your specific problem I recommend plasters with ibuprofen, voltaren or any other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory

Alot of my problems came from bad posture... once I fixed that alot of them went away

BTW I took 3 ibuprofen in addition to doing some other things and my back didn't hurt. I didn't bowl quite well enough to place in today's event but at least I wasn't hurting!

try working out your abs/lower back

Valium imho, it's a good muscle relaxant. Also, working out helps strengthen back/chest muscles so they won't get injured as easily in the future. Also, play safer sports like SC.
