I need something creative something new something you need to sit down and think about. I need some revenge.
My gf and I live in this shitty apartment near our university, basically its really cheap and you get what you pay for, but it serves its purpose. Everything is decent except for our shitty ass neighbor.
He invites his friends over every night of the week during the semester and plays fucking rockband until two AM almost every night... Until we called the cops one night and he stopped doing that. He still does it a little bit, where its to the point I have to yell through my walls to tell them to be quiet.
This was really all but a small hassle before until recently. Those kids put choclate syrup on my door lock and handle... Seriously... High school shit in university... Anyways I know its probably a bad idea and immature, but the cops probably can't do shit about it or the building manager because I have no proof. I mean i'm really only assuming its them because my door is the only one with the fing syrup on it.
I need something creative, but I guess i'm limited to what I can slide under his door or do to it. Last resort on my part will be super glue his lock. I think that may warrant a new lock and may be going to far though.
So, I need some ideas from some fellow badasses.

Never do this passive aggressive shit. It's retarded and solves nothing except making you feel empowered.
1. Talk to him an explain the situation.
2. If that fails, go to the landlord and ask to submit a complaint and ask him how he will deal with it.
3. If that fails three times, call the cops.

The really annoying thing you can do is to get a short piece of tape, loop it like you would when trying to mount a poster the wall. Make the loop really flat and thin, then slip it in his key hole. Either the lock stops working or it becomes very frustrating to unlock/lock the door.

Talking to him would obviously be ideal but some people are just assholes.
The superintendent should be very accessible, they should be able to lock it down. I'm sure there are other people bothered by it too.

Escalating this conflict is a really terrible idea. I would try talking to your neighbor or writing him a note. Try to be as polite as you can and just tell him reasonably why it's not OK for him to be making so much noise at 2am. (Like actually why, for example "I need to wake up at 7 every morning to go work at radioshack" or whatever it is you do in the morning. That makes it easier for the guy to understand your situation.)
Most people will respond well to a polite, reasonable request. Most people will respond badly to pranks or passive-aggressive BS. Take the high road and you're more likely to persuade your neighbor not to be a jerk.

leave them alone and they'll probably leave you alone. If they play rockband at an extreme volume call the cops dont yell at him through the walls.

I agree that immature 'me vs them' shit won't work. Either take the diplomatic route or a completely extreme approach. I suggest the former.

Basically, in a creative-revenge situation; you have utilize the power of increasing number of egg cartons and heavy banging on their door.

I wouldn't do anything back that's hostile because then the real 1-upping will begin and that never ends well.

Things you could do if direct communication with your neighbour fails:
-hide a camera somewhere to monitor your door as proof of any inappropriate behavior
-talk to other 'neighbours' and try to take some group action
-talk to your neigbour's parents assuming that they have significant influence over your neighbours
-keep on calling the cops
-keep on complaining to the building manager
In all cases, make sure that the third party sympathesizes with you more than your neighbour, and that any action taken by you is warranted and justifiable by the perspectives of the third party..
