Lately I have been thinking about doing voice training. (Speaking more clearly, maybe try singing?)

However I found it fairly hard to get started on this training
I have "The Alexander Method" (I think :p) and I'm looking into this now.
Is anybody else training their voice? If so, how did you guys get started and how well have you been making progress?

I've considered it, but I found it was hard to actually implement into my free time. Similarly, I tried to develop perfect pitch. I got too busy and distracted to focus on it, especially when it's frustrating for things that take a while to improve. You can do it for a week or two, and you feel like nothing is helping, kinda like starting out with SC on iCCup; 0-100 as a start.

Depends :p Do you give special attention to the way to talk? Alot of people have this high pitched annoying voice. Overstressed. Myself, I think I sound waaaaay to boring and monotone. So I want to try and see if I can put more emotion into it.
And also chicks like slick talkers with a deep voice ^^

I used to watch anime WHOLE DAYS , so it somehow naturally came to me to speak the way they do. So yeah, I have a japanesse accent and diction as well as the liked characters way of speaking.

ya when im lazy or depressed my voice is very low, hoarse, and monotone. I have to put effort into for my voice to sound normal and cheery. But I'm glad that I can have a midrange clear voice at all.

i tend to focus on the content more, but sometimes i try speaking louder than usual so people understand/ know what i was speaking of

My voice is pretty bland as well. I thought about trying to train it somehow, but when I looked around I couldn't find a way to get started either. I think it is a worthwhile pursuit, but not worth spending money on.

Well yeah same here, I tries looking on google but I didn't find many things worthwhile :s Like I mentioned, I think "the alexander method" is pretty good I guess :s.
I'll just dl some E-books or something :p

does your voice actually changes with that method or is just an alteration that you can turn on an off? dunno if you know what i mean

It actually changes your voice, but I haven't been too busy with reading about it actually. It's more of an allround technique.

Is there some way for me to un-deepify my voice? I sound like one of those ornery black guys, but I'm actually very skinny. I have a horrendously large voice box that has ruined potential hookups when, during dates, they asked if they could touch it.

Or die trying. Didn't the mythbusters do a little thing on that? From what I've read if you don't get it out of your lungs properly you can asphyxiate yourself. This of course all coming from my really screwed up memory.

Acting is the best training. It teaches awareness of voice and intonation. A good voice is something that requires awareness of how you sound and how to manipulate it. Obviously you don't want to project in day to day conversations like you're on stage, but the exaggeration of emotion and control of tone is something you can apply every day, and it makes your voice a lot more interesting to listen to.

you should probably do a couple of singing excercises, i dont think youll need to actually sing. That way you can control the level of your voice and you can alter it over time. Look for voice coach videos, maybe on youtube. you need to learn about how your voice works.

I've got a decent, natural low pitched voice, so I'm training to be able to hit higher notes. Whenever I go for a drive longer than, say, 15 minutes. I put in a cd, crank up the volume until it's almost max, then try to sing louder than the speakers.

Damn hard to sing to Manowar songs, I tell ya. That guy hits some seriously high notes :x

I don't know if this counts to the topic, though, since I'm only training my singing voice and not natural speaking. But I think I'm improving at least

Maybe I'll get a better speaking voice as a bonus?

I have a deep monotoned voice that, at best, has a hint of arrogance/superiority blended in. God I LOVE my voice. Voice training is for pussies.

Just a few days ago I got interested in this website: www.guymonroe.com.

A voice coach, but much more than that also. If I had money I'd take some of his lessons, he seems cool.
