Hasn't snowed here in seattle yet, it may not this year.
|
In the Chicagoish area of the world it has been raining (around 30ish degrees) for the past few days, but today we got VERY hard snow for a majority of the day, leaving around 5ish inches I would say.

there's been snow on the ground for the last 2 weeks up here in new england but now we're having a shittastic rainstorm

No probs - I am sort of on hiatus, but it's my vacation until the 3rd so I'm around during the day time.

We usually dont get more than a couple of inches here, a storm recently dumped well over 12 inches. :D
And yes I love snow, even if I have to shovel and dig the car and house out.

Thanks, but I'm not back. I just wanted to blog about the snow. I'm still on hiatus until sometime later on in January.

I mean travel north about 6000 km during the winter and you got snow in japan. Travel south about 5000 km and you got Antartica. =)

Expensive... For a student.

We got tons of snow here in the eastern US. there were 18 inches on the ground last week, it was a pain to shovel but it was really pretty

I know what you mean in a way. It's so pretty, but it's frustrating because I don't want to go outside (I'm notoriously clumsy.) Also I'd love to photograph things in this weather, but I just can't risk my camera.

It snowed enough to look pretty cool around here today, I'll see if I can't get a few good pics tomorrow. Unfortunately I only have a cell phone camera, but I just got a new phone and haven't tried the camera yet, so maybe it will be good.

So I see [Photo] in the title and I keep expecting a picture of snow...

Uh....there is a photo of snow. Are you not looking properly? Also sorry, but I'm not risking $4000 worth of camera equipment to take photos outside. I could slip and drop the camera or water from the falling snow could get into the lens. It's not worth it.

When I woke up thi morning it'd all melted But yeah we had lotsa snow from last week's thursday on out =)

ive been living in snow the last 2 weeks now.. its starting to get boring!
|
We had snow a couple of days ago but it is gone already. I like snow but I hate the freezing on the ground making it so slippery. A young boy riding a bike (maybe bikes and snow don't mix so well together) fell down right next to me but fortunately he didn't get hurt.
Still, snow is awesome!
|
Come on nevergg, you need to go outside and take pictures...
I did too a few days ago when it was SERIOUSLY fucking cold (up to -15°C)
edit: hm I guess I should have read the entire thread first
but still.. just walk really carefully and put a UV filter or whatever on top so the lens is safe ^^
|
It's snowing here in Canada :D But it snows like 11 months per year here -.-"

I would, but I don't have insurance on any of my camera supplies and I'm also on hiatus for being pretty sick so I just can't do it right now. I might in the near future, but I'm trying to not get flu again (I just got over a week's worth of it.)

snowed in england a few days ago, made a snowball about 6 foot high. At that point it wouldn't roll anymore. It's nowhere near melted as the rest of the snow around it has almost gone.

we had about 2 feet in the Washington D.C. area a week ago, but it's been warm and rainy since and so it's almost all gone.

Also I'd love to photograph things in this weather, but I just can't risk my camera. That's very understandable It would be possible to buy a new, much less expensive camera for these occasions where you don't want to risk the good one. There's so many photos that are just a bad idea to bring a nice camera to (anything on water... haha), but they often turn out so pretty even if it's just with a crappy camera. But then I guess that boarders on degrading your passion into someone's vacation photos, I don't know how you'd feel about that. I'm lame enough to actually like seeing photos of my friends' travels.
Do you ever print large size photos to sell? I bet there's at least a few TLers who would pay for framed HQ pictures of certain progamers... Or even at events, if they let you solicit... Though I'm not sure they would.

D.C. area recently had a huge snow storm... 20-24 inches or so... Then on one of the warmer days afterwards (40-50 F), rain fell, and destroyed the monolithic layer similar to remains of a minor flurry... It was fun while it lasted.

It's been snowing like hell here in Minnesota...
